Please Recommend Affordable and Reliable Cloud Storage for 50 TB of Data
OP - Backblaze Personal. May be like $1/extra per month than your budget. Unlimited IO and backup storage assuming you only need redundancy.

Still going to take a while on initial upload. (Sounds almost AWS Snowball like is what you need but too costly).

Best practices for mailbox network file storage?
Is there a current best practice for a shared filesystem backend for mailboxes (in my case, all virtual accounts)?? NFS 3/4, GFS2, GlusterFS, other?? In the case of the latter ones, is the use of Director necessary?? Any specific anti-recommendations?? Also, if it matters, I *think* I want to use BackBlaze racks for storage.? Also, I've seen recommendations for the filesystem underneath like XFS or ext4 or whatever.? Is there a best practice?
Thanks,
Drew

Direct groups of users to pairs of backend mailstores?
...s
stored in LDAP.?? Currently we have five NFS filesystems on EMC VNX
storage which are all mounted on each of the six backend
mailstores.?? At the moment all users could be directed to any of
the six mailstores.? We have a group of users with very large
mailboxes we want to put on separate cheaper Backblaze NFS storage.?
Because this will be less reliable than our VNX storage we want to be
able to direct this group of users to a new pair of backend mailstores
that only have the Backblaze NFS mounts.?? This would isolate the
rest of the users isolation from problems with the Backblaze NFS
servers.? I...

...r gluster. Feel free to let me know if you think what I'm doing
is dumb. It just feels very comfortable doing this with gluster.
I have been using gluster in other, more orthodox configurations, for
several years.
I have a single system with 45 inexpensive sata drives - it's a self-built
backblaze similar to that documented at this url but with some upgrades
and substitutions:
http://blog.backblaze.com/2009/09/01/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/
We use this system for disk-to-disk backups only, no primary storage,
nothing mission critical.

Building a Back Blaze style POD
...eally don't have a lot of money to throw at the initial concept, but I have some. This device will host all of the operations for the first few months until I can afford to build a duplicate device. I already had a few parts of the idea done and ready to get live.
I am contemplating building a BackBlaze Style POD. The goal of the device is to start acting as a place to have the crawls store information, massage it, get it into db's and then notify the user the task is done so they can start looking at the results.
For reference here are a few links:

Can this be the same box realistically? How does one spec this box out?
Database servers and storage servers would go on the private VLAN? I am building a box to store all the data (mysql, video, crawl data, static datasets) and I strongly think it might be a backBlaze POD running CentOS.
I know this is not the best list to ask these types of questions on, so if there is a better place besides ServerFault or SuperUser.com, I would appreciate knowing. I just find the folks here have so much knowledge besides CentOS.
I look at some of these organizations that ta...

would you really backup into a system, that has closed connectivity?
I'd prefer connecting a way I want: e.g. SFT...

Transcode lossy to further reduced lossy to stream over Icecast
Opus or AAC will give you comparable results at reasonable bitrates (~128k).
Though, I would suggest finding a way to get more storage. You could
upload to Backblaze B2 or AWS S3 for pennies, if your current host won't
let you upgrade.

So, you?re already 12x higher than his budget, and it?ll be going up 20% in early April.
On top of that, there?s certainly a transfer rate limit. I couldn?t find a reliable source saying what that

Mirrored Servers
Lets say I have two servers, both running opensolaris with ZFS. I basically want to be able to create a filesystem where the two servers have a common volume, that is mirrored between the two. Meaning, each server keeps an identical, real time backup of the other''s data directory. Set them both up as file servers, and load balance between the two for incoming requests.
How would anyone

Question about WD drives with Super Microsystems
...supermicro backplane with the -A version (direct port) and its been riPping along for well over a year. We replaced the 3gb backplane 2x and exact same failures. Supermicro refuses to concede a problem exists.
The smicro board is total sh*t despite using an lsi expander chip.
We are building a backblaze like bulk storage setup. Can''t find a dense chassis like sc847 and hoping to convince supermicro to create -a version of the jbod.
Hoping I can convince lsi/netapp to sell me DS6600 tray or nexsan E60x or DDN S26000 without their gold plated drives.
Or just don''t buy WD drive...

Transcode lossy to further reduced lossy to stream over Icecast

varying quality, some lossless too

anywhere

* Locally transcode everything to one format that results in files

If you are AMD user and your old AMD cpu died, You think that AMD must
burn due to a cpu failure? Great.
I'm with you in the case where you buy a disk and after 3/6 months it
fails (and this can happen also with very good brand) and this is not
the case. Backblaze must burn all brand because many disks fails....
Now about bad hardware manufacturing companies it's another problem.
These companies point to low cost consumer, due the fact that not anyone
can get the best hardware due to money. An example? Corsair LE 480 GB
