xvm networking on 2005.11 (b94) with iwk
After googling around and reading the material on the opensolaris.org xvm community site, I still do not understanding the configuration of networking and would appreciate some assistance. Problem: I have successfully installed an hvm domU running Windows XP on opensolaris 2005.11 (build 94), and when the laptop (lenovo t61, core2 9300) is connected via the e1000g0 interface networking works

DomU with ZFS root on iSCSI - any tips?
Hi Folks, Just wondering if anyone had any tips for trying to install a NV 94 DomU with ZFS root to an iSCSI Target? The iSCSI Target happens to be a NV 94 system with ZVOLs exported as the Targets, but I wouldn''t think that would matter. I tried this last week and the install seemed to complete fine, but when the DomU attempted to reboot after install, I received a message to the

Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY RX300
Hi all Opensolaris works perfectly, but I am not able to boot the xvm kernel on this hardware. I added the -k option in grub, but the system hangs before the hostname line without any debug info. I''ve tried snv from b94 to b99, with the same results. If I install Debian with xen kernel I am able to use pvm and hvm guests. What can I do ? thanks Giacomo -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

x4500 resilvering spare taking forever?
I''ve got a Thumper running snv_57 and a large ZFS pool. I recently noticed a drive throwing some read errors, so I did the right thing and zfs replaced it with a spare. Everything went well, but the resilvering process seems to be taking an eternity: # zpool status pool: bigpool state: ONLINE status: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was

Snapshots during a scrub
I have a weekly scrub setup, and I''ve seen at least once now where it says "don''t snapshot while scrubbing" Is this a data integrity issue, or will it make one or both of the processes take longer? Thanks

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
...'s not about permissions or issues on sysvol share level but rather crypto/signature issues. Moreover I tried a bit more GPO debugging as instructed here: <https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-August/201762.html> Perhaps the following log line points out an error: GPSVC(3a8.b94) 15:07:34:198 ProcessGPOs(Machine): MyGetUserName failed with 5. The full log can be found here: <http://pastebin.com/vgbhx0cm> Many thanks again. Rainer

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Hello, I think I really need some help on this. Since Samba 4.2.11 upgrade my Windows 10 clients are unable to synchronize group policies. I have asked about this already here <https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-April/199226.html>. Now I re-investigate the issue with Windows 10 1607 update and still face the same issue which prevents me from rolling out this configuration in

Can I trust ZFS?
Hey folks, I guess this is an odd question to be asking here, but I could do with some feedback from anybody who''s actually using ZFS in anger. I''m about to go live with ZFS in our company on a new fileserver, but I have some real concerns about whether I can really trust ZFS to keep my data alive if things go wrong. This is a big step for us, we''re a 100% windows

zfs, raidz, spare and jbod
Hi. I installed solaris express developer edition (b79) on a supermicro quad-core harpertown E5405 with 8 GB ram and two internal sata-drives. I installed solaris onto one of the internal drives. I added an areca arc-1680 sas-controller and configured it in jbod-mode. I attached an external sas-cabinet with 16 sas-drives 1 TB (931 binary GB). I created a raidz2-pool with ten disks and one spare.

CF to SATA adapters for boot device
Has anyone here had any luck using a CF to SATA adapter? I''ve just tried an Addonics ADSACFW CF to SATA adaptor with an 8GB card that I wanted to use for a boot pool and even though the BIOS reports the disk, Solaris B95 (or the installer) doesn''t see it. I might give the IDE version a go (I really wanted hoT-plug), otherwise I''ll be able to store a couple of thousand
