Upgrading ZFS Version on Solaris 08/07
I wanted to crossgrade from OpenSolaris b65 to Solaris 10 08/07 for my main fileserver, but I found that I could not import my zpool due to a version mismatch. Is there any way to upgrade only ZFS on 08/07 so that it matches or exceeds the version used by b68? Blake -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I.O error: zpool metadata corrupted after powercut
...de) 2 days ago we had another powercut in our test labo :-( And again one pool was lost. This system was not configured with zfs no cache flush. On the pool we had +/- 40 zvols used by running vm''s (iscsi boot/swap/data disks for xen & virtual box guests) The first failure was on a b68 system, the second on a b77 system. Last zpool was using iscsi disks: setup: pool mirror: iscsidisk1 san1 iscsidisk1 san2 mirror: iscsidisk2 san1 iscsidisk2 san2 I thought zfs was always persistent on disk, but apparently a power cut has can cause unrecoverable damage. I can acc...

Based on what? The Implementation of Solaris for AMD dates back to SE b68 or 69... that's mid 2004... Compare that to an OS that already ran on the software emulator before silicon was even out there... Solaris 10 on AMD64 is definitely less stable that Centos 4 on the same v40z... Running the same apps we had 0 crashes with Linux vs. 2 explained and patched, 1 e...
