HI, Dear R community,
I have a large data set names dd.txt, the columns are: there are 2402
variables.
a1, b1, ..z1, a11, b11, ...z11, a111, b111, ..z111..
IF I dont know the relative position of the columns, but I know I need the
following variables:
var<-c(a1, c1,a11,b11,f111)
Can I use read.columns to read the data into R?
I have tried the following codes, but it does not work
hh<-read.columns("/house/homedirs/c/cdu/operon/...

Expand zpool capacity
Hello, Experts.
I''ve got a problem. I''m trying to expand my main zpool (rpool), but don''t know how to do that. (i''m 100% newbie in non-windows world)
I use Osol under Vmware on Windows.
I had a pretty small vhdd -> only 12gb. Yesterday i decided to expand my virtual drive to 20gb. (After several tries to upgrade the OS to a newest dev-releases and

ZFS on top of ZFS iSCSI share
I have a filer running Opensolaris (snv_111b) and I am presenting a
iSCSI share from a RAIDZ pool. I want to run ZFS on the share at the
client. Is it necessary to create a mirror or use ditto blocks at the
client to ensure ZFS can recover if it detects a failure at the client?
Thanks,
Bruin

xVM, ZFS & thin provisioning
Hello, sorry if these questions have been answered before but please excuse me, I''m new to xVM :)
Anyway I have been using Linux/Xen for quite a while and am very familiar with it. I am very interesting in changing to OpenSolaris/xVM for the primary reason of being able to easily leverage the ZFS filesystem and thin provisioning for better storage efficiency.
1) Is this ZFS thin

Can''t get a Centos 5.3 domU to work
I''m unable to create a centos domU on Opensolaris 2009.6. I had no
problem following the instructions to make Solaris a dom0. The same
process worked just fine with the GUI virtual machine manager under
OpenSUSE 11.1. For a number of reasons I''d prefer to use Opensolaris
as my Dom0, but not if it going to be a battle to get everything to
work. Is Xen actually a

zvol (slow) vs file (fast) performance snv_130
Hello,
I was doing performance testing, validating zvol performance in particularly, and found that zvol write performance to be slow ~35-44MB/s at 1MB blocksize writes. I then tested the underlying zfs file system with the same test and got 121MB/s. Is there any way to fix this? I really would like to have compatible performance between the zfs filesystem and the zfs zvols.

snv_110 -> snv_121 produces checksum errors on Raid-Z pool
I have a 5-500GB disk Raid-Z pool that has been producing checksum errors right after upgrading SXCE to build 121. They seem to be randomly occurring on all 5 disks, so it doesn''t look like a disk failure situation.
Repeatingly running a scrub on the pools randomly repairs between 20 and a few hundred checksum errors.
Since I hadn''t physically touched the machine, it seems a
