ZFS on top of ZFS iSCSI share
I have a filer running Opensolaris (snv_111b) and I am presenting a iSCSI share from a RAIDZ pool. I want to run ZFS on the share at the client. Is it necessary to create a mirror or use ditto blocks at the client to ensure ZFS can recover if it detects a failure at the client? Thanks, Bruin

xVM, ZFS & thin provisioning
Hello, sorry if these questions have been answered before but please excuse me, I''m new to xVM :) Anyway I have been using Linux/Xen for quite a while and am very familiar with it. I am very interesting in changing to OpenSolaris/xVM for the primary reason of being able to easily leverage the ZFS filesystem and thin provisioning for better storage efficiency. 1) Is this ZFS thin

Can''t get a Centos 5.3 domU to work
I''m unable to create a centos domU on Opensolaris 2009.6. I had no problem following the instructions to make Solaris a dom0. The same process worked just fine with the GUI virtual machine manager under OpenSUSE 11.1. For a number of reasons I''d prefer to use Opensolaris as my Dom0, but not if it going to be a battle to get everything to work. Is Xen actually a

zvol (slow) vs file (fast) performance snv_130
Hello, I was doing performance testing, validating zvol performance in particularly, and found that zvol write performance to be slow ~35-44MB/s at 1MB blocksize writes. I then tested the underlying zfs file system with the same test and got 121MB/s. Is there any way to fix this? I really would like to have compatible performance between the zfs filesystem and the zfs zvols. # first test is a

snv_110 -> snv_121 produces checksum errors on Raid-Z pool
I have a 5-500GB disk Raid-Z pool that has been producing checksum errors right after upgrading SXCE to build 121. They seem to be randomly occurring on all 5 disks, so it doesn''t look like a disk failure situation. Repeatingly running a scrub on the pools randomly repairs between 20 and a few hundred checksum errors. Since I hadn''t physically touched the machine, it seems a
