ownership problems on samba file server...
...odify the file without having to save it under a different filename. Can anybody offer me a better solution for this? I don't mind upgrading, but I don't want to go through the hassle if it's not going to fix my problem. Thanks in advance.

smbmount on NT machine times-out
...Output error on all the NT machines. I have to unmount and remount them several times, until the backup gets to that machine. Does anybody know of any way to either tell the NT machines or the Linux machine that it's mounted on to keep the share open? Thanks in advance.
