Kernel module indispensable?
...nouveau driver
does not work at all without the corresponding kernel module. Is that true?
Is there some hope to drop this requirement?

PS: I see that the avivo guys already have a Debian package (in
experimental), whereas that is still missing for the nouveau driver.

What is the motivation for choosing nVidia?
Dear developers
I have just noticed your fantastic work, and I am looking forward to
send you dumps of my GeForce 6150, when I get vacation in two weeks.
It is an integrated GPU on my Asus A8N-VM CSM, so I hope it will work.
The reason I post is, I am wondering what the motivation is for doing
nVidia and not ATi?
I have read the "FAQ:Why are you doing this?", but it doesn't

[PATCH 00/37] [RFC] revamped modeset locking

First thing first: It works, I now no longer have a few dropped frames every 10s
on my testbox here with the pageflip i-g-t tests.
Random notes:
- New design has per-crtc locks to protect the crtc input-side (pageflip,
cursor) for r/w and the output state of the crtc (mode, dpms) as read-only. It
also required completely revamped fb lifecycle management, those are now
refcounted
