OT: 1gigabt nics
Begging indulgence of the list - asking here because due to the higher likelyhood of getting an answer... I have an application that often loses connection from one machine to another when one (or more) of the machines has particular brands of 1gig nics, but which runs rock solid when on 10meg nics and some 1 gig nics. The application senses (falsely) that the connection has been shut

This is troubling. Stange NIC Problem: DFE-538TX
...g an odd problem where this NIC (cheap-o, yes I know) doesn't seem to work on FreeBSD correctly. I have the same cards (even revision models) in two win boxen and they work fine. 10baseT works but not 100baseT. With a normal NIC config, without explicitly setting the media to 10baseT, it will autosense as 100BaseT @ full-duplex, showing active. However I can't ping any IP. My switch indicates that the port is not active either. If a 10baseT config, the switch will recognise that it's running at half-duplex and all seems well. I've read posts here that changes in stable may have af...

[LLVMdev] CPU feature control for JIT
Hi all, Is there a convenient way to control the instruction set extensions used for JIT compilation? In particular I'm looking at selecting the SSE level, for debugging and performance comparison purposes. There appear to be command-line options for Clang but I haven't figured out yet how to control them directly for JIT compilation. And obviously I don't want it to generate

Slow connection
Hi, Last week I discovered that my samba-server seems rather slow. When I searched around I discovered that I wasn't the only one experiencing this, but I didn't find a solution. I experimented a little, and I hope someone can suggest a solution. First my server : SuSE 8.1, with Samba 2.2.5 (comes with the distribution). From a WinME-client I uploaded a 160Mb file to the samba-server.

Rusting Snoms?
This is a bit off topic, because I 'think' it isn't an Asterisk problem. However I'm not sure and anyhow I'm hoping someone may recognize the symptom. We moved offices a month ago. Our trusty SNOM190s (all between 3 and 5 years old) were packed up for the move, then unpacked a couple of weeks later. On unpacking them and connecting them to the new network, several of

[Bridge] recent crashes? Linux kernel 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 (Linux Fedora Core 5)
At the risk of angering the crash Gods, my sustem has NOT crashed again since I downgraded the kernel from 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 to 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5. Given that newfound stability, and my lack of time, I'm going to put on hold any further diagnostics, until the next kernel revision is released. I have submitted a report at bugzilla.redhat.com (bug 218128). (Ah, nuts; accidentally created a

Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi, I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet. smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

network collapse
based on what your saying.. im not thinking this is samba related. I guess check your switches and find the "fault" autosense for your nics.. You can use thisone to disable autosence ethtool -s ethX autoneg off en set correct nic speed. ethtool -s ethX speed XXXX BUT ! check your switches first. greetz, Louis >-----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- >Van: sambait3 at fuckaround.org >[mailto:samba-bounces at...

network collapse
Hi folks on debian stable I've a default samba file sharing config. Everything works perfectly (almost...) - samba version 3.6.6 >From linux and windows clients (wired and wifi too) when I (i.e. listen musics) often (one time every 4/5 minutes) networks suddenly collapse (for less one second) and immediately goes up. Samba dropping connections
Hi all Thanks to David Collier-Brown for the mail on Friday - we are looking into it right now. Our setup is: RedHat 6.1, Samba 2.0.5a, on a HP LH3 NetServer - 256 MB, 5x9GB RAID 5, also running Apache and the Intranet. Cisco Catalyst 2900 (24 port) switch, and a mix of HP and NetGear hubs. PCs are connected to the hubs and then upload to the switch, the servers are straight onto the switch.
