OT: autoresponders
Too many people with misconfigured autoresponders... Latest is Make Zuzlak, who has announced he'll be annoying everyone until August 22nd. If people are going on holiday please do one of 3 things: 1. Don't use an autoresponder or 2. Use one that isn't broken.. ie. knows what the Precedence: header is for. or 3. Unsubscribe. T...

Bug#489172: logcheck: please add Auto-Submitted header field to mailouts
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.54 Severity: wishlist Please add the header "Auto-Submitted: auto-generated" to mails generated by logcheck. This header should be supported by many email autoresponders and should prevent the need to set up logcheck specific rules for "vacation"-type autoresponders. Headers can be added in mail using the -a switch, e.g. mail -a Auto-Submitted: auto-generated" -s "$subject" "$SENDMAILTO" For details regarding the Auto-Subm...

sieve vacation: write to the .lda-dupes database without generating a vacation response.
...d, and probably should have been routed to someone else at my organization anyway.) However, I *don't* want my regular correspondents to receive this autoreply. I'd thus like to seed the database with known individuals I'm corresponding with to pretend they've already received the autoresponder. Since I bcc an archive address on all emails, my original thought was to detect people in the To and Cc line of outgoing emails and record them in the .lda-dupes database, as they received a vacation email. I can't figure out how to do this; there is no option on the sieve vacation directi...

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
...you do not need to configure SSL certificates, MX or SPF DNS records. Most ISP handle that correctly and economically. Internal e-mail does not leave your LAN, and your internal SMTP server is just a relay for the external ISP SMTP server. Furthermore, most guides do not explain how to setup an autoresponder ("I am on holiday until xxx") so that users can enable theirs with the mouse. Editing configuration files over SSH is not really an option for normal users. This detail is important because it could be the only thing I need above standard e-mail. Further groupware features can be seen...

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
...igure your local relay smtp to deliver those locally, > but if your people do not talk about their vacancies over the > water cooler, then they will miss that reminder then. People are not that careless even in small businesses, where there is no water cooler at all. Most of them do set up autoresponders, so that customers know. Small business tend to care about customers more than big ones. The idea is that those autoresponders should also work internally. I just learnt that you can install a "Managesieve server" plug-in for forwarding and autoresponders. That would be the way to go...

LDAP schema ?
...obably want to take advantage of the user managements tools, you want to use a Global Address List, maybe multiple servers etc. When I started to configure my template, i searched for a schema with "vacation" attribute. I even wrote a postfix filter who used this attribute to generate autoresponder messages. I found ispenv2.ldif , i still use it, even I switched to sieve for autoresponder so i don't need vacation anymore. But ispenv2 has also some nice attributes for managing users "ISP style": details about payment, contract, price, user disabled etc In the mean time I sta...

sieve vacation - 2 questions
Hello, still trying to move from procmail to sieve, but there are new problems. Currently we use procmail for autoresponder and let user choose timerange, in which responder should work. May be you set up today your responder for 2 weeks in future where responder start and stop automatically without further manuell intervention. In procmail this is done by simple scripting and comparison of timestamps. How to do t...

Changing `security@freebsd.org' alias
Hello Folks, The official email address for this list is `freebsd-security@freebsd.org'. Due to convention, there is an email alias for this list: security@freebsd.org, just as there is for hackers@ & freebsd-hackers@, arch@ & freebsd-arch@, and so on. The security@freebsd.org alias has been the source of occassional problems. Several times in the past, postings have been made to

This is how you get booted from any mailing list... setting an autoresponder without blocking such messages from being sent to lists, and to add insult to injury, adding a JPG and vcard as part of your autoresponder signature.
