Vim autoindenting?
Does anyone else find gVim 6.4 a bit unstable on Windows XP? It''s
become my editor of choice since learning it recently but I''m noticing
some peculiar behavior. Last night I spontaneously lost the "Edit in
vim" context-menu option, at the same time as its autoindenting feature
changed on its own.
So I can confirm what''s going on, what options control the
autoindenting?
The behavior I want is for it to indent two spaces after I type
something like
x = Fred.new(
indent like this.
and hit Enter.
What I''m seeing is that it indents to the p...

Vim - In INSERT Mode, the Backspace key does not work
Hi All,
I'm not very good with Vim.
I noticed when it is in INSERT Mode, the backspace key no longer works.
How to do I configure it so that it will work with the backspace key?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Trouble with R and cronjobs
I am having problems with trying to run R from a crontab job. I have a
c-shell file that calls the R script. I get an error concerning the X11
display (see below). I have included the c-shell file and the output from
the crontab job. It appears that my DISPLAY environmental variable is not
set. Is that necessary, even when the output of the plot command is to a png
file? Can someone tell me how to

kate editor for R
Like kile for LaTeX, Linux/KDE's kate editor is an excellent editor for
R, with easy code submission to a running R process. Syntax
highlighting is good. I have not been able to figure out two things:
- how to automatically reformat a line or region of text using good
indentation rules (Emacs/ESS make this so easy by just hitting Tab while
the cursor is in a line, or highlighting a

forced fsck (again?)
hello everyone.
i guess this has been asked before, but haven't found it in the faq.
i have the following issue...
it is not uncommon nowadays to have desktops with filesystems
in the order of 500gb/1tb.
now, my kubuntu (but other distros do the same) forces a fsck
on ext3 every so often, no matter what.
in the past it wasn't a big issue.
but with sizes increasing so much, users are
