Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi,
I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the
two printers I have set up with CUPS.
I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript
Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run
"cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails
with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers

Samba+CUPS+Drivers autodownload
Hi Matt,
the problem you referred to is discussed in detail
as bug #82 in Samba's bug tracking tool. It consists
of 2 bugs. One prevents the registration of drivers
and is due to a NULL-pointer passed from that part
of code in rpc_server/srv_spoolss_nt.c which calls
sys_adminlog function. It begins with the comment
/* BEGIN_ADMIN_LOG */
and ends with the comment
/* END_ADMIN_LOG */

W9x print driver download problems with Samba 2.2.3a and CUPS
...e caveat that I first have to connect to each printer on a w2k
machine and select the driver from the list manually (driver is clearly
installed, just not associated with the printer - rpcclient setdriver
will probably do it, too, I guess), printing from win2k machines works
perfectly - drivers get autodownloaded and everything Just Works.
Win9x is another story altogether. It's clearly trying to get the
drivers from the server, but at the beginning of the process, it pops up
a box asking for a file whose name is one unprintable character -
Windows prints it as a bold vertical bar in the box. It IS loo...

CUPS/Printing
RH Linux 9 on AMD k6-2 500
Using HP deskjet 930c on USB
Samba version: 2.2.7a
cups version: 1.1.18
Hello - I have had a good look on this newsgroup - and what I've picked up I
think is allowing me to ask
these questions more intelligently. I've also had a good look at the CUPS
documentation aswell as the
Samba documentation.
1. Am I correct is assuming that CUPS only likes postscript,

Of course. But that's not the whole story. Microsoft only
supports MP3 because so many people listen to mp3 radio
stations and files. And before

The dreaded SPOOLSV.EXE error
I'm seeing quite a few SPOOLSV.exe postings here, so I figured I'd share my
experiences with you, as I have run regular NT and W2K print servers that
also cause this. There are essentially 3 reasons for this. In order of
likelihood:
1) Drivers that mismatch the Windows version
2) "full" spooler directory
3) bitmap fax drivers
Number 1 is the prime culprit. Even if you have

2 Questions
1) Is it possible when using the mp3 steam not to have the ( data ) in the tag line like you can do with ogg
2) Can the meta-tag-refresh tag which is in the 2.0KH58 be put in the new 2.2.0 version.
Thanks
