Apologies : question on transforming a table
...can't figure this out right now. I have several hundred pheno factors actually, so manually doing this line by line is not an option. My original table is approximately like this : ID pheno 1 A Breast Cancer 2 A Appendicitis 3 A Microcephaly 4 B Polyps 5 B Autism 6 C Autism 7 D Breast Cancer 8 D Polyps 9 D Appendicitis 10 E Breast Cancer What I want is this : ID Breast Cancer Appendicitis Microcephaly Polyps Autism A 1 1 1 B 1 1 C 1 D 1 1 E 1 The data is here data <- data.frame(ID=c(rep("A",3),rep("...

Network meta-analysis help
...ings. I hope my message finds you well. I know this question may be silly for some experts like you but it's a very important matter for me so, sorry for that. I was trying to make a network meta-analysis using R for the attached data set which shows the association between breast feeding and autism spectrum disorder (the event here is bad). I've searched a lot through the internet but no clear guidelines on how to do network meta-analysis and produce the related figures (Forest plot, Network plot, Heat map .... ect). I've installed "netmeta" pack successfully. Can you hel...

...hind, including physical and mental disabilities. If that's true, and we really mean it, than imposing such a harsh CoC from the majority of opinions is exactly the opposite of that. People like me are clearly not the majority, the NAS UK estimates 1 every 100 people in England has some form of autism, but that's the whole point of a CoC, is to not forget about the people with some form of fragility. By the replies I've seen so far, there were others that feel the same way, and I wonder if they're also feeling a little uncomfortable with the wording. Disclaimer: This is not persona...

I think this is my autism coming in to play, I think what is very clear to me I just am not able to adequately communicate because clearly people are not even remotely grasping what I am trying to convey.

GM: Gross Motor Scale, VR: Visual Reception, FM: Fine Motor, RL: receptive Language, EL: Expressive Language.  ADOS: An autism-specific measure. First I wanted to do correlations between Generalization (variable Gen) and expressive language (MSELEL) for each group of Group1. For this, I used lapply or by functions which work just fine. Here is the code with lapply: lapply(split(mydata, mydata$Group1), function(x){cor.test...

bootstrap bca confidence intervals for large number of statistics in one model; library("boot")
...ge number of statistics computed from a single dataset. For instance, one might like to get (so as to plot graphically) bootstrap confidence bands for the fitted values in a regression model. (Example: Chiu S et al., Early Acceleration of Head Circumference in Children with Fragile X Syndrome and Autism. Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics 2007;In press. In this paper we plot the estimated trajectories of head circumference for two different groups, computed by linear mixed-effects models, with confidence bands obtained by bootstrap.) Below is a toy example of how to do this usin...

Resuming the discussion of establishing an LLVM code of conduct
...has had fears so far, the right to do so. I'm not saying *you* are, but that is the consequence if you (or anyone else) would have been. Now, assuming that he was joking, that would have been bad, but how bad? It would depend on how many times it happened in the past (serial offender, see the autism page I shared earlier), or if the affected person asked him to stop and he didn't, or if he did this on the list or out of it, etc. Those are all parts of the spectrum of harassment, and they have to be dealt with in *very* different ways. If we advocate on our CoC that we do not take a spectr...

Postdoctoral researcher: genome informatics in psychiatry
...the laboratory of Jake Michaelson, PhD, assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Iowa. The Michaelson lab investigates the effect of genetic variation on the development and function of the brain, particularly in the context of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and language impairment. Our work revolves mostly around integrating information from large scale data sets (e.g., whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.) and deriving informative features so that predictive models can be built and used to better understand the molecular basis of neurodev...

Detecting Long PDD
Hi List, I've had some issues with some VoIP providers where either: 1 - There is massive PDD but finally the call goes through 2 - There is massive PDD but the call gets rejected anyways I was wondering if there was a way to automatically detect such behaviors when it happens (maybe with a script or something) so I can take the faulty providers out of the routing and maybe automatically

ISDN in US?
Hi All, After several months using a TDM400p to access my 4 POTS lines I'm thinking that there has to be a better way. I could order up a BRI from SBC and ditch the POTS lines altogether.Does anyone have ISDN working in the US? What are the issues involved with that interface? Thanks, Michael -- Michael Graves mgraves@pixelpower.com Sr. Product Specialist

We are looking for another solution besides Samba, which will allow our application developers using Windows 95/98/NT to access share on our Sun Box running Solaris 2.6 operating systems. Our supervisor feels the Samba installation process is more complex than what we really need. Any suggestions? I am leaving llvm
...lace where we can discuss these things. On a personal note... It really saddens me that you would leave a technical project because of social reasons. I have been battling social injustice my whole life (towards myself and others) because of my utter incompetence in understanding the social code (Autism), and this is one of the days that we all lose. I know this hasn't been an easy decision, and this is what makes it so unjust. Social pressure is real, and has real side effects. Let's discuss this off-list, I really think we can fix this. cheers, --renato
