samba, pdc, ldap question
I have a question for those of you out there. I work at a
university where we already have our ldap systems in place
and use them for almost all authentication. I would like to
implement a samba file server that authenticates of our
existing ldap server. Would the best solution be to have
samba authticate off of ldap through pam. Is this even

Samba Ldap Understanding
.... I'd
like to know about using Samba with and external LDAP
server provided by a third party (ie Iplanet or
other).
** How do I ensure that Samba work with third party
LDAP server that dont sit on the same machine that
Samba is installed on?
** What LDAP info/schema is neccessary to do the
authtication?
** After a user is authenticated with against the
LDAP server, how do I offer shares of the Samba
machine?
** Can some point me to a case/example doc that i can
read that is more related to LDAP server installed on
another machine?

Samba authentication across AD forests
Hello all,
I am currently trying to connect a Samba server (running on CentOS 6.5) to a Windows 2008R2 AD domain (domain A),
which itself has a two-way transitive forrest-trust to another Windows 2008R2 AD domain (domain B).
The Samba server is joined to domain A and should be able to authticate users in domain B.
Is this currently possible using some version of either Samba3 or Samba4 ?
If so,

Connection refused
Hi,
Here is my situation : I have installed Samba 2.0.6 on my computer, which is
running with Linux RedHat 6.0.
When somebody tries to connect to this server, he's got a 'refused
connection' message after he tried to my_IP@:139.
I don't think the smb.conf is responsible because we have tried with the
basic one, and it doesn't change anything.
As I'm fresh in Linux (and

I have 2 DCs which using sernet samba, version 4.7.6. and I use a samba version 4.6.2 as a domain member for file sharing in CentOS7.4. The domain member works well as a file server, but When I login to that domain member using AD authtication. Sometimes, It works OK too, but sometime , I can't login that domain member. error logs like this:

Reducing RAM requirement of sshd
Hi All,
I have ported OpenSSH on an embedded uClinux platform. My main concern is that sshd takes 1 MB if RAM while its in running state and for each incoming connection it eats up 1 mb ram again. I am looking for help in reducing RAM requirement for ssh daemon. Any comments ?
Thanks in advance,
Reema.
