Samba authenication to Window Active Directory
Has any version of Samba been tested for compatibility with the new Windows Active Directory? We will be upgrading our NT domain to 2000 and creating Active Directory. Currently our solaris samba 2.0.7 server is configured to authenicate users from our NT domain controllers. Will we encounter problems with the 2000 upgrade? Thanks in advance, Cynthia --------------------------------- Do You

Using ldap for permissions/authenication
Hi all: I am currently using Active Directories (via openldap client) to authenicate my linux clients and would like to have samba use AD (ldap - not winbind) as well. I really haven't seen any documentation on how to implement, however. Does anyone have any information regarding ldap and samba (redhat rpm)? Thanks! NSS ldap problems
I'm having trouble setting up ldap based authenication. I have a virtual (KVM) CentOS 5.4 box set up to authenticate to a 389 (fedora) directory server, and that works fine. However, I set up a virtual box running CentOS 6, and I can't get it to authenicate. I've run authconfig with the appropriate flags, ldapsearch properly finds the data, but I can't log in. /var/log/secure

Best authen. scheme to interface with an existing user table
All, I need to put authentication into my app, but I also need to integrate with a pre-existing user/password table. Can I use acts_as_authenticated or does that only work with a specific schema? I''m thinking I''ll just modify the authentication recipe in _Rails Recipes_ to meet my needs. Any other advice? Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

SIP Authenication (Simple, Digest, ACL)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I have been successful in getting Digest authentication to work with my Mitel 5055 IP Phones, however I'm wondering if Asterisk still supports Simple authentication? I know it has been depreciated in the RFC, but I have some phones with don't support Digest. Or how about an ACL? PB -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5

Win 98 Authenication problems....
Well, it's been several weeks since I made a fairly detailed post to the list regarding problems I was having with the Win98/Samba authentication process. I haven't received any solutions, but 3 or 4 other people have emailed me saying they have the exact same problem. Reinstalling Samba 2.06 via RPM seemed to fix the problem temporarily, but it's returned. The authentication problem

I get authenicated but I can't get to share
I see in the log where I get authenticated but it won't let me have access to the share from Windows XP to linux box. If I set up the server without domain auth on samba and setup a matching account on the linux box I have no problems accessing. But we want to use domain auth. So then if I setup domain auth I can get authenticated in fact I can login to the linux box with my windows username

question NIS password authenication
Fellow Samba Folks, I am trying to setup Samba version 2.2.8a. I would like to authenticate the users with their NIS password and not use a smbpasswd file on the Samba Server. I also want to use the encrypt password feature. The clients will be using XP or Win2K os. Is this possible or do I have to find a Windows Domain Server. One of the SOLUTIONS for winbind authenication failures with STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
I had this problem and I could not find the solution on Usenet that's why I'm posting - maybe somebody more fortunate won't have to spend hours and hours to fix this. Problem: successfully joined Samba to Windows AD. wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u worked fine, wbinfo -t did not: # wbinfo -t checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed error code was STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW

Setting up a new backuppc for a small group of device and I am running centos 5.4 with winbind setup and working. Everything is working and I would like the users to authenicate using their AD creds and was wondering what folks are using to do that with apache 2.2 and centos 5.4. I know about mod_auth_pam but that seems pretty dead so I was just wondering what folks were using and whats the

I've setup samba to use ldap. I've propogated the directory. I've setup the kerberos realm. I can authen to samba & browse shares via uid/passw held in ldap. I cannot seem to get samba to accept kerb authen instead of uid/passw. Help...... Thanks. Read the #$@^(!*&$!* manual, and about 200 webpages. Scanning news groups, recompiling..... Grrrrr!

nss_ldap breaks puppet
I have installed and configured the puppet client nodes to use LDAP to authenicate users. LDAP connection is OK and user can be authenicated via LDAP. I use nscd and with my ldap config setting specify on /etc/ldap.conf However, puppet is not happy; and in the /var/log/messages it gives tons of puppet-agent[27499]: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server puppet-agent[27499]: nss_ldap:
