Dovecot 1.0.7 domain variable
...dovecot.conf: mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n but from debug output I see the domain is blank: dovecot: May 10 20:49:25 Info: IMAP(elliott): maildir: data=/var/mail/vhosts//elliott I've set elliott at n.0o0.bz as my username in Outlook so it is sending the domain (and changed auth_username_format to "auth_username_format = %n" so authentication works fine) Why is %d blank here? Anything else to check?? I'm at a loss. Thanks! -elliott-

Auth_username_format question
...erberos due to recent changes to my plans and I am having a little problem getting the malbox created in desired path. At the moment the home folders are being created in: /home/vmail/DOMAIN.COM/%Ln and it worked great with kerberos, but with LDAP the domain part is missing so I did the following: Auth_username_format = %Ln Then I did: # telnet localhost pop3 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. user test4 at domain.com +OK pass password +OK Logged in. But I saw in the logs the following: dovecot: auth(default): master out: USER 1 test4 ui...

auth_username_format effective only within passdb/userdb
Hello dovecot list. I have multiple passdb/userdb, some use %Ln some use %Lu. How to make auth_username_format effective only within passdb/userdb?

Domain part / auth_username_format
...cate a pop3 user without a domain part and then use the domain part to specify a Maildir subfolder to grab messages from. So, this was my attempt: # use the domain part to access a subfolder mail_location = maildir:/mail/%n/Maildir/%d # strip of the domain part for authentication purposes auth_username_format = %n login: testuser at .INBOX.SubFolder Authentication of testuser works great, but mail_debug shows me that the domain-part (%d) is empty when expanding mail_location. Any bright ideas? Rob :) [ Dovecot 1.0.rc15, Debian Sarge, PAM auth. ]

When changing it to "auth_username_format = %n" the local users can be found but not the virtual users anymore. Is there a way to define "if <user> is local then auth_username_format = %n else auth_username_format = %Lu"? Thanks and best regards, David --...

dovecot: config: Error: BUG: Config client connection sent too much data
...M] upgraded dovecot (2.2.30.2-1 -> 2.2.31-1) When Dovecot was last updated back on June 30, I did `systemctl daemon-reload` but never actually restarted the Dovecot daemon until what seems like today. The only thing I did today was edit /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-auth.conf by simply enabling "*auth_username_format = %Lu*" which was commented out before I enabled it. That is the /*only*/ thing that I tested. After I was done testing I went back and commented out the same thing so it reads "*#auth_username_format = %Lu*" and of course restarted Dovecot. I really doubt this has anything to do wit...

System users lookup via PAM: strip the domain name?
I have a need for the following: Real system users in /etc/{passwd,shadow} (actually PAM on FreeBSD) wirhOUT @domain in /etc/passwd Virtual Users in SQL (with full user at domain in the DB) When I have auth_username_format = %Ln I can?t auth the Virtual Users, and if I have auth_username_format = %Lu I can?t auth System users.
