Squid proxy as a Gateway Server
Hi all,
Good Day for all,
I need Help to Setup Squid proxy as a Gateway Server.
The Idea is to use the (Server and Gateway) configured with Squid to run
using AUTH_Pam or AUTH_ncsa , but additionally we need to filter some access
via group, following the standard filter group used
Filter Group 1 - blocked users (no access)
Filter Group 2 - standard users (standard access rights)
Filter Group 3 - guest users (limited access rights)
Filter Group 4 - power users (m...

Apache auth failing for Active Directory group members
...t;test", but the results were
the same. So far, no luck.
I have included software version and configuration details below. If there is
more information I can provide, I'd be happy to. I am reluctant to upgrade to
Debian/testing to see if a newer version of samba, winbind, or the Apache
auth_pam module fixes the problem, as this is a production server and downtime
is an issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Any known solutions? Any
information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian Cochrane

Flaw in empty password authentication in sshd
...as follows:
Using ssh the user tries to logon to the machine using an account that has
empty password. If the user presses enter on the password prompt (NULL
password) access is disallowed. However upon entry of any random string
the user is granted successful login.
In "auth_pam_password" function (auth_pam.c) the lines:
if(*password == '\0' && options.permit_empty_passwd == 0)
return 0;
disallows a login to an empty password account by providing empty
password.
