Yes, I did : in fact, aumix from the command line behaves exactly like the
KMix GUI : when I change the PCM or Mic level with aumix, KMix shows the new
settings. But even with aumix set to the good values (PCM...

Hello,
I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.0 and Ices 2.0.0 on a Compaq
EvoN600C running Redhat 9. Everything runs quite well (no error loggued by
Icecast or Ices), the Ices stream is seen as a source by Icecast and friends
are able to listen to my radio (I see them as listeners in Icecast admin)...
the problem is that they ear only silence ! Looks like the streaming is OK
but Ices could

Hi:
Your ability to use this setup is going to depend on whether or not your
card can capture its own output, or at least its own PCM output. Since
you're using the OSS drivers, try running the following command:
aumix -q
This wil list the settings for each channel. a P flag denotes a device set
to playback only, an R flag denotes a device that you can record from.
Some cards will allow you to record from more than one channel at a time,
so be aware of this. You need to see if you can set your PCM device to le...

Now, my question is if /dev/dsp is the standard device for the line-in of the audio card?
I have tried, as suggested in previous mails, raising the sound level of line in and mic with amixer, alsamixer, aumix, kmix, gmix, etc.
I still can`t get to stream audio from line-in but I got to stream noise to my Icecast Server!
Any ideas??

Little Liveice Help
...t doesnt
work when I plug it into the 'Line-In' input of the soundcard. I mean the
liveice doesnt stream anything in that case. I am usin 'NO_MIXER" mode and
just using the soundcard. Is there any setting which will make it work
when I plug feed into the line-in?I tried 'aumix' to adjust the various
levels of the input but it didnt work.
There is a newest version o icecast come now (icecast1.10) does this
liveice work with that one?

multiple liveice sources
Hi,
I am trying to stream two different sources with two soundcards using
liveice and icecast, all from single Linux box. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible?
I tried creating two sets in the liveice config file where I specified
different devices. No erros but the latter source was streamed on both
mount points. Running two instances of liveice talking to one instance of
icecast failed.

Your distro probably came with an sound mixer application. I use aumix on
the console which i had to go get, but you may already have, see if you
have a man page. Else you can search freshmeat.net for it. You will need
to make sure _line_in_ is set for recording and set the _rec_ volume at
1/2 to start and adjust by trial and error. NOTE: the _line_in_ Volume

we're actually using a furman c/l already, but the levels coming into the
mixer are still all over the place. one mp3 might be much louder than
another, the phone interface is way too loud, the dj mic is too quiet, etc.
usually one of the planners ends up sitting by and adjusting the igain in
aumix. is there any software-based solution? it seems like it wouldn't be
all that hard to implement.

Frustrated with Ubuntu XMMS, XMMS-Liveice, and icecast
I have XMMS and XMMS-liveice setup to use ALSA to stream audio to my
icecast server using LAME encoding.
I start the sound file and i can see XMMS playing away happily, icecast
detects the connection and shows the source as being connected, but no
bandwisth useage. If I connect to the icecast server I get a client
connection, but no sound.
Scanning other forums there appears that there might

If it helps : my soundcard is a ES1988 Allegro-1, the module is "maestro3".
I use kmix as mixer, but there is nothing in it about a "capture channel".

Liveice & Icecast...help
Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50
then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the
line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby.
I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not.

It doesn't matter what the _line_in_ volume is set at just make sure it is
selected to record. then set the _rec_ volume, it's a different thing. I
use the interactive curses interface,...
