plots for residual analysis
...s based on lowess estimations are drawn as green continuous curves, 2) "Extra" variables or components (variables not in the model formula, but in the original dataframe or otherwise specified by the user) are plotted and labeled with an "extra:" preffix. 3) Moderate and extreme atipical levels of residuals are drawn as dashed yellow or red horizontal lines.  The dashed green lines represent the 0 mean residuals are supposed to have, according to model assumptions.   This plotting function is part of a set of tools I'm developing for spanish-sepaking  pre-grad students.  For m...

How do I blank or overwrite DVD-RW disks in CentOS 5?
I'm trying to use DVD-RW ("minus RW") disks in my LG GSA-4040B drive. I can write a new disk just fine, but can't find any way to blank or re-use a disk. Using DVD-R discs (and currently no options to try other media, due to shops being closed), I'm unable to write anything, using either the dvd+rwtools port, or the dvdrtools. I've exhausted all references to be found in google, which are in a language I understand, so I'm hoping the list can

MOre on buring ISOs
So right now I have installed k3b on this notebook. I am using my Storix DVD/CDRW usb drive. I can read cds with it. Cannot burn CDs. First k3b suggests slowing down (from 8x to 4x). Then use TAO. Then it gave up. So I try cdrecord directly. -checkdrive finds some interesting things. Got to close the drive manually; cdrecord says it can't. then try a cdrecord -v dev=dev/scd0 sample.iso
