Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms. And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon). Nice!

atheros chips dangerous?
...card for my server and I wonder how this can affect to the combination FreeBSD+ath(4). The ath_hal page states that FreeBSD use a binary driver and I think it is located in this file[2]. Unlike OpenBSD which affirms that they have reverse engineering[3] the drivers would I be at risk if I use atheros based wireless cards with FreeBSD? all comments will be appreciated. Thank you. Atheros AR5141
Hi I got myself a nice little R52 802.11a/b/g MiniPCI Card for our router. This card is using the Atheros AR5141 chipset. I searched everywhere to find out more info on this and came across a few pages where it said that the AR5141 chipset is supported but when I stick the card in the router and boot FreeBSD 7-STABLE it hangs when loading the Atheros drivers It stops right after this ath0: <Atheros...

CentOS and Atheros
What's the easiest path to having my Atheros wireless cards supported, particularly in C5? In the past, I've chosen to download source and build my own, but that's become a little tiresome. At one point, OpenSUSE was the easy option, but since 10.1 it's dropped madwifi. -- Cheers John -- spambait 1aaaaaaa at coco.mersei...

Support for the Atheros wireless chipset in 3.4 and 4.0
Atheros support is not ''built in'' for 3.4, so I need some pointers on adding it. Is it in 4.0? It is in the current Novell Linux desktop professional (we used that on a system the other week). The reason for Atheros support, is that all the network anaylsis tools work well with it (and...

how to install Atheros AR5008 on CentOS 5.5 in console-only mode?

Wireless connection issue - athero 9300 pci wireless card
Hi all, I am new to CentOS. I built myself a desktop with an additional PCI wireless card 'TP-LInk WPN3800', which I have checked needs an ath9k driver. * **04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Wifi wpa_supplicant with atheros successes or failures?
...entos/2006-May/065091.html> I've been attempting a go at getting wpa_supplicant running on CentOS 4.3 and haven't had much luck. I'm assuming my failure is my lack of knowledge on the subject, but anyways. First, my normal setup is as follows: IBM Thinkpad R40 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5211 802.11ab NIC (rev 01) Works great and has been working great for over a year now off the madwifi drivers at <http://atrpms.net/dist/el4/madwifi/>. I've done a bit of Googling the past few days as well. One link I follow it mentions about CentOS/RHEL not suppo...

[Bridge] Re: re : atheros bridge problem
I'm not sure how this particular solution works for my arrangement. I have two 10/100 ethernet interfaces on the local net and one atheros interface. I understand the issues w/ the 802.11a/b/g/i protocols, but this particular solution sounds as if I want to bridge two networks that are separated by a network segment, like a VPN. But I have all these interfaces on one machine that I want bridged. Also, it appears as if the two...

Installed plus kernel, kudzu did not see atheros wifi
I took the dive and installed the CentosPlus kernel. I remembered that I could always boot with the old kernel if things went south. But on reboot, kudzu wanted to delete the Atheros config. I told it not to, but.... Would a simple 'freshen' of madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at.i386.rpm ? an rpm -qa |grep wifi returns: madwifi-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at madwifi-hal-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at

ath(4) for D-Link G520M on 5.5-R?
I just got the D-Link DWL-G520M PCI wireless card. I'm not interested in super-G or any other post-802.11b feature in particular; the reason I got it was because the marketing materials hinted that (at least some revision of it) had the Atheros chipset. It isn't recognized at all by ath(4) on 5.5. Here is the pciconf -lv section: none0@pci0:14:0: class=0x020000 card=0x3a681186 chip=0x0020168c rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Atheros Communications Inc.' class = network subclass = ethernet The hardware ve...

Linux on a Thinkpad R40
...a use IBM Thinkpad R40 model 2722-GDM. I'm contemplating what to run on it, and longer-term the likely candidates are: Centos 5 SLE{D,S} 10 OpenSUSE 10.2 Kubuntu - the latest. Kubuntu - Long Life (aka 6.04, Dapper, ...) I've booted Knoppix 4 in it and most seems well, including the Atheros Wireless card Windows can't find. The major flies in the ointment are the wireless and the inbuilt modem (Agere something). Google tells me the modem can be made to work, and I'm pretty sure from my Acer that the Atheros wifi also work with some minor fiddling: I've build the drive...
