Lost my madwifi setup
I rebuilt my notebook that has the atheros card in it, and forgot to save all of my setup to get it working. I am using dkms and the madwifi rpms from rpmforge. My modprobe.conf has a line: alias wifi0 ath_pci I can ifconfig wifi0 up But the command: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant -dd -D madwifi -i wifi0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf fails. Now some of my old notes mention using ath0 and a line in modprobe.conf of: alias ath0 ath_pci options ath_pci autocreate=sta I think...

Supsend/hibernate on Samsung NC10
Hi, I cannot have suspend and hibernate working on a Samsung NC10 (netbook) running CentOS 5.4 i386. When I try suspending/hibernating the screen becomes black (with a few logs, like "shrinking memory" for hibernate) and then the computer hangs and I have to force a shutdown with the power button. This wiki page seems to say that it should work out of the box:

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms. And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon). Nice!

pci passthrough and domU madwifi drivers
...verything should be fine (not quite). Two problems: 1) Saving or pausing a VM that has madwifi drivers loaded crashes dom0 and domU irrecoverably without dropping a line to log or console. 2) Say I unload the modules, checkpoint, and restore the VM. Then, when I attempt to modprobe ath_pci, I see this lovely little bit[0]. Modules are loaded, no interfaces seen through ifconfig/iwconfig. Furthermore, I''ve tried rebuilding two versions of the madwifi driver, in hopes that this was a stability issue. Alas, no luck: both the stable and experimental branches show the sa...

build custom kernel
...Probably in thinks like : howto make new kernel for centos to be the most compatible (using /boot/config... probably). The reason why i need this is : - problem with pptpd on x64 centos 5.1 (causes freezing --- found that it is a kernel bug .. still not fixed in rhel - centos :( ) - problem with ath_pci (atheros module) which causes masine freezing after hours of use without any footprints in logs , tested that on fedora 8 this works stable :( Thanks in advance! xen kernel headers, new kernel modules with a-i
...list, I am running lenny with xen-linux-system-2.6.18-4-xen-686 (xen 3.0.3) installed. I'd like to put this server in the cupboard and access it via wifi. To build the wifi kernel module, it should hopefully go like this : apt-get install madwifi-source madwifi-tools m-a a-i madwifi modprobe ath_pci ... Except that I do not have the sources nor the headers of my kernel. "apt-get source xen-linux-system-$(uname -r)" copied linux-2.6-2.6.21{,6.diff.gz,6.dsc,orig.tar.gz} in my home dir, but "m-a a-i madwifi -k linux-2.6-2.6.21" would not work any better... I read (ok, grepp...
