Integration with atalk and other users
Hi all. I have a few questions I hoped some of you could help with.
I am trying to integrate a network together with both win95 and mac
clients. I would like to create a script or program that enables the
admin to easily add users. Possibly telnet-based, or a win95 application
would be fine.
Does anyone have any ideas on the easiest way to do this? Has anyone
hacked the stock adduser script

Samba deleting files?!
...ld files automatically in many Cron scripts.)
Well, placing shares in /tmp really is one bad idea. But no, I don't
have any shares in /tmp.
So I'd really like to know if noone else has this problem. Perhaps it's
got to do with the fact that I'm sharing directories with samba _and_
atalk at the same time?!
There really happen strange things on the file server and it's not
really reproduceable. Today we stated that tiff-graphics files created
on a Mac on the file server (using atalk) could not be opened with
Photoshop by one user connected to the file server via samba. So the

Netatalk connection on Samba machine account - security breach?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

[please cc to my address]
Dear Samba and Netatalk experts,
I've got a server running both samba 2.2.3a as PDC and netatalk (1.5pre7
as supplied by SuSE73). Samba machine accounts are added to /etc/passwd
automatically by the command
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g 90 -s /bin/false -M %u
when a NT machine is added to the...

Best Printer Setup
Hi,
I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print
server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote
printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in
RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :)
(not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff)
I have the Samba book

Printing woes
Hi,
I've been using Samba for a while, and I'm now running all network
printing here from Samba. However, while printing itself works fine, my
users can neither view the print queue, nor delete jobs from it, and
this is beginning to get annoying. I'm using LPRng to do all the
printing. All the clients are NT4 workstations. Here's some selected
bits of /etc/smb.conf and

how to make umask changes permanent
I am running a Samba 3 - Atalk environment for a large number of MAC /
PC clients. How can I make umask changes affecting all users ( 002 for
instance) to stay permanent (not being reset to default values at server
restart) ? Do I have to edit the /etc/profile file accordingly? How?
Thanks,
Cristian

Sure, ping me when you have the final version and I'll try to build gcc
with it and do some size comparisons.
Thx.

Hallo!
I am actually trying to connect an iBook to a Samba-network and do not
have a clue about how to manage ...
Neither the samba-documentation nor LDP helped me.
If possible, I would like to connect the iBook to Samba, and not the
Linux-box to the iBook using packages like atalk and so on, since that
would mean to administrate all the resources twice: once for Samba, once
for Atalk ... Every change I would make should be made twice, increasing
the risk of failures ...
The iBook is running MaxOS 9.1 and is successfully connected to internet
through the linux-box, even DHC...
