4.8 installer failure with intel ICH4 ata controller
...ized fine. The cdrom does: acd0: MODE_SENSE_BIG command timeout - resetting ata1: resetting devices .. done over and over. Finally I get to the screen "Probing devices, please wait (this can take a while)" and the installer hangs. acd0 is on ata1. I have tried booting with: set hw.ata.ata_dma=0 set hw.ata.wc=0 I have also tried disabling udma support for this drive in the BIOS. Also, I have an intel ICH4 controller which is in the supported list. There seems to be a pr open on this, 36610. How can I tell if this is the problem I have? Is there anything I can do, such as trying a diff...

FAILURE - WRITE_DMA timed out
...either the controller or the software driving it. Would I have any joy upgrading along 5-STABLE, perhaps after I move the disk back to the machine that works, or won't that make any difference? (As in, are there any relevant ata changes since then?) I've already tried setting both hw.ata.ata_dma and hw.ata.wc to 0, but I still get these timeouts. -- Frustrated in Sydney

Freezes in wireless bridge

Some times is printed on console DMA erros of ad0 before system to freeze. We have already tried to disable ATA DMA (hw.ata.ata_dma=0, hw.ata.atapi_dma=0, hw.ata.wc=0), but system freezes yet. This bridge is runnig on motherboard MSI VIAK8M with 03 Atheros board (D-Link G520), but this problem happens using other motherboards and CPUs. Is there anyway to force dumps? Is there any watchdog hardware for FreeBSD 6.X? All sou...

Dell PE600SC with ServerWorks CSB6
Hello! Has anyone gotten 4.9R to recognize the "ServerWorks CSB6" ATA controller on a Dell 600SC? How about installing 5.2R on a 600SC? 5.2R recognizes the said controller, but it corrupts data. -- eof
