default route
Hi,
Is it possible to use more than one default route? I believe yes.
Any comments on them. If I use more than one, where will the trafficc be
diverted from?
With warm regards,
-Payal

Slightly off-topic --- distribution name.
I've built R functions to ``effect'' a particular distribution, and
would like to find out if that distribution is already ``known'' by
an existing name. (I.e. suppose it were called the ``Melvin''
distribution --- I've built dmelvin, pmelvin, qmelvin, and rmelvin as
it were, but I need a real name to substitute for melvin.)
The distribution is really just a toy

svm
Hello list,
I want to apply svm from library e1071, and I want to supply class weights.
I do not really understand the help entry (and there is no example)
class.weights: a named vector of weights for the different classes,
used for asymetric class sizes. Not all factor levels have to
be supplied (default weight: 1). All components have to be
named.
I have two

package "wavelets" does nor recognize filter "d2"
I take the liberty of pasting the on-line documentation for package "wavelets", functions "dwt" and "wt.filter", pertinent to the wavelet/filter choice.
While I apologize for my verbose messages with huge attachments, I encourage whoever loads packages to CRAN to take some minutes to reread the attached documentation.

IMQ problems :-(
Hi
I have built a custom TMB Mandrake kernel (2.4.22) with IMQ and ESFQ
support. I statically compiled both (mistake?) ESFQ is sorted and
working fine (I have succesfully patched IPROUTE2).
I have got to the stage where I can see the IMQ device as UP with ifconfig.
I can use TC to add QDISCs to the IMQ device. However I just cannot sort out
IPTABLES to actually redirect packets to the IMQ

Uplink shapping
Hi everyone,
I''m controling the uplink traffic bandwidth between two ethernet linux
computers, but it seems like even the download bandwidth gets limited
then i''ve got trouble on that because my intention is shaping the
conection on an asymetric way (ADSL). Lately, I''m going crazy, this
problem has got me pretty worried and i''m not figuring out at all, the

Wierd problem with file sharing over internet.
..., no matter what the connection speed. I'm using Red Hat 7.3
on all systems. The problem also occurs, when trying to access files on
my OS/2 system. Also, when I try to access files on my notebook
(connected via dialup), from my local lan, every is also fine, so the
problem appears to be asymetrical.
Any ideas?
btw, I can provide ethereal or tcpdump records of some attempts.
tnx jk

AW: strange copy speed
Hello G?tz,
could you do a closer look at your smbd (maybe with truss or strace)
to see what exactly happens? or maybe it would be enough to watch
traffic between your client and server (and traffic between your
server and nameserver, domaincotroler (if involved))
best regards,
chris

Hi,
I have a dynamic network (ospf) connecting different locations over
frame relay (wan). Each location frame relay access device is actually a
linux box running shorewall, zebra with a sangoma card.
As a backup I have added to some locations a DSL line which serves as a
gateway to the Internet but also over which I have created VPNs to
connect those locations using OpenVPN as a backup.

Samba performance on FreeBSD and other platforms in a 'Normal' world.
...blem is and what he's done to test his network
situation out.
In it he states that via FTP, his transfers are near the limit of his 10MB
ethernet, both ways. He even tests it for too much CPU load etc. He doesn't
see much in the way of collisions and try as he might he's getting very
asymetrical performance when using Samba with a windows machine.
I use this as an example of the kind of response people get when they try to
get Samba to perform as well as they expect and fail. I have spent dozens of
hours tweaking, tuning, building the latest greatest Samba and no matter the
NIC, the eth...

fisher exact vs. simulated chi-square
Dear All,
I have a problem understanding the difference between the outcome of a
fisher exact test and a chi-square test (with simulated p.value).
For some sample data (see below), fisher reports p=.02337. The normal
chi-square test complains about "approximation may be incorrect",
because there is a column with cells with very small values. I
therefore tried the chi-square with

On the same machine, LLVM definitely needs to support both symmetric and
asymmetric multi-processing. I believe some primitives to

how can i define routed zones
hi,
suppose i have firewall with an ethernet interface eth1 for the internal
local zone, but in the local zone i have a router which connected to
some external offices internal lan. the external office has no other net
access just through this line. in orther to be able to define rules and
filter the traffic, the router internal interface should have to be in
different network then the local

Asymmetric routing and firewalls dropping UDP packets
We are running tinc (v. 1.0.26) in switch mode with bmx6 (another mesh
protocol) running on top of the tap0 interface on about 25 devices. The
asymmetric routing of UDP packets is causing my firewall and I presume
others to drop some of the packets, since there are no outbound SYN packets
originating from the device running tinc. Is there any way to mitigate
this issue besides enabling tcponly

FD: R package to measure functional diversity indices
Dear useRs,
The FD package is intended for ecologists interested in functional
diversity (FD). It measures different functional diversity indices
from multiple traits (any type of traits). The first version of FD
(1.0-0) is now available on CRAN:

a statistic question about chisq.test() (aprilsun)
The Chisquare test is based upon a normal approx of the (essentially) binomial
distribution for the data in question. Small EXPECTED (not observed) values
(<5) suggest a asymetric distribution and potential errors in inferential
conclusions. The alternative is the exact test, which calculates the exact
probabilities of the observed distribution, or a more extreme one, given the

Question about framework to weighting different classes in SVM
Hi gurus,
I have a doubt about multiclass classification SVM. The population in my data includes a couple of class labels that have relatively small proportion of the entire population compared to other classes. I would like SVM to pay more attention to these classes. However, the question I am having here is that is there any systematic/theoretic framework to determine the weights for each

kernlab/ ksvm: class.weights & prob.model in binary classification
Hello list,
I am faced with a two-class classification problem with highly asymetric
class sizes (class one: 99%, class two: 1%).
I'd like to obtain a class probability model, also introducing available
information on the class prior.

Dealing with bandwidth limitations
...it seems larger packets either take longer or get lost completely,
and the resulting latency as reported by * is 500-2000ms. The result
is broken up sound at one end of the connection. (The other end is
fine, but that's probably because the routing between the * system and
the sip clients is asymetrical, so the problem apparently exists in one
direction but not both.) The sip clients all use G.729.
My question is this. Are there any RTP settings that I could tinker with
that would improve the quality, perhaps at the expense of delay, by making
better use of the limited bandwidth available. The...
