How to debug the C programs associated with R-packages?
hello, I was having some problems in debugging C codes assocaited with R-packages. I don't have much experience with debugging tools used in C language. Is there any methods similar to R-debugging tools such as browser ,debug etc which can be used to debug such C files. I was using the foreign package and found a bug in reading dta files containing empty...

Powerful PC to run R
...s down due to overheating. I'm now thinking about buying a more powerful desktop PC or laptop. Can anybody advise me on the best configuration to run R as fast as possible? I will use this PC exclusively for R so any other factors are of limited importance. Using stepAIC to produce a p-value for when a particular variable was taken out of the model
...model. If I choose trace=TRUE then I obviously can see each step of the elimination process together with the AIC and the degrees of freedom for each variable and for the null model. When the stepwise process is complete it is possible to call the "anova" value which shows deviances and assocaited degrees of freedoms for variables left in the model. Therefore I could use this information to calculate p-values. However, is it possible to do the same for the varaibles which were thrown out of the model? There doesn't seem to be any literature on how to use AICs to get p-values as the...

lmer BIC changes between output and anova
list, i am using lmer to fit multilevel models and trying to use anova to compare the models. however, whenever i run the anova, the AIC, BIC and loglik are different from the original model output- as below. can someone help me out with why this is happening? (i'm hoping the output assocaited with the anova is right!). thank you, darren > unconditional<-lmer(log50 ~ 1 + (1 | Stream:Site) + (1|Stream), data) > summary(unconditional) Linear mixed-effects model fit by REML Formula: log50 ~ 1 + (1 | Stream:Site) + (1 | Stream) Data: data AIC BIC logLik MLdeviance...

[RFC PATCH 00/24] Control VQ support in vDPA
...mu) may use a dedicated address space for the control virtqueue group to isolate the memory mapping. The vhost/vhost-vDPA is also extend for the userspace to: - query the number of virtqueue groups and address spaces supported by the device - query the virtqueue group for a specific virtqueue - assocaite a virtqueue group with an address space - send ASID based IOTLB commands This will help userspace VMM(Qemu) to detect whether the control vq could be supported and isolate memory mappings of control virtqueue from the others. To demonstrate the usage, vDPA simulator is extended to support settin...
