Anyone already tried to backport the latest ASPM kernel patch to 6.2?
After going from CentOS 5.7 to 6.2, a lot of things turned out to be much better, but there are also quite some regressions. The most obvious one is power consumption on my notebook. It was notably lower before. The ASPM issue introduced in 2.6.38 was widely reported and discussed, and the 6.2 kernel has exacatly this code as a backport. http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=2f671e2dbff6eb5ef4e2600adbec550c13b8fe72 So I started to experiment with the upstream patch: htt...

Assistance in tracking a kernel/nouveau error
Greetings, I am resending this as it doesn't appear in the archives and no one responded...maybe it got routed to /dev/null or something :-) I have asked this question the Scientific Linux mailing list (a few months ago) and got the suggestion I talk to the kernel guys. I pinged a kernel guy I know, and his suggestion was to ask the Nouveau list. So here I am. :-) I have had my work laptop

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is what works in Fedora and appears to be available and

Install of CentOS 7.6 On Dell PowerEdge R830 Hangs
All, Seems like the latest CentOS 7.6 and I are not playing well together, these days. I'm attempting to use our pxeboot setup to install the latest CentOS 7 on a Dell PowerEdge R830. The install starts then gets to a certain point and hangs. That certain point is: FADT indicates ASPM is unsupported, using BIOS configuration Now I've tried to see where the Active Server Power Management setting is in the BIOS, but have had no luck whatsoever. Any thoughts or ideas?? Thanks. PEV

NIC Stability Problems Under Xen 4.4 / CentOS 6 / Linux 3.18
...s enabled on these servers. I'll try disabling it. > Did you have these issues with an earlier kernel? The last kernel these boxes ran was 2.6.18-412.el5xen under CentOS 5 and they were very stable, however the differences between 2.6.18 and 3.18 are immense, especially with features like ASPM and other power management code. We've run into ASPM issues on systems before going from CentOS 5 to the CentOS 6 kernel 2.6.32, but not this particular hardware, which is why my first thought was to look at ASPM. They've all been upgraded to CentOS 6 and running the virt SIG kernel kerne...
