Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm having a couple problems trying to get Icecast and LiveIce set up on
a Linux 7.0 system.
I'm running Icecast 1.3.10 without a config file (using all defaults).
I can use shout to stream to it and connect to it from a windows machine
running WinAmp. It works OK except winamp stops every few seconds and
tells me that it's buffering. It buffers for a few seconds and then

Poisson Regression
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask if there is an R-package to fit the following Poisson
regression model
log(\lambda_{ijk}) = \phi_{i} + \alpha_{j} + \beta_{k}
i=1,\cdots,N (subjects)
j=0,1 (two levels)
k=0,1 (two levels)
treating the \phi_{i} as nuinsance parameters.
Thank you very much

df command reports inaccurate results?
Can anyone help make sense of this? This is an ext3 partition. It's
only showing 403GB out of 426GB used, but then it says only 632MB
available? Where'd the extra ~25GB go?
[scarolan at server]$ df -H /disks/vrac5

EXT3 and large directories
I have an ext3 filesystem that has several directories and each
directory gets a large number of files inserted and then deleted over
time. The filesystem is basically used as a temp store before files are
processed. The issue is over time the directory scans get extremely slow
even if the directories are empty. I have noticed the directories can
range in size from 4k - 100M even when they are

Some basic questions about getting the best performance for database usage
I''m new so opensolaris and very new to ZFS. In the past we have always used linux for our database backends.
So now we are looking for a new database server to give us a big performance boost, and also the possibility for scalability.
Our current database consists mainly of a huge table containing about 230 million records and a few (relatively) smaller tables (something like 13 million

Non-Parametric Adventures in R
I just started using R and I'm having all sorts of "fun" trying different
things.
I'm going to document the different things I'm doing here as a kind of case
study. I'm hoping that I'll get help from the community so that I can use R
properly.
Anyways, in this study, I have demographic data, drug usage data, and side
effect data. All of this is loaded into a csv

[Possible spam] New project - any volunteers?
...nstead of "Physicians are slow to adopt IT...")
The benefits to the RoR community include:
1) increased visibility of RoR in general (EMRs are a hot topic and I have plans that will ensure the site gets national attention)
2) introduction of RoR to the medical community, many of whom are aspiring and/or practicing software developers
3) additional validation of the RoR platform as viable for ''real'' systems.
My plan is to have the software to create and read the data available to both healthcare consumers and providers in June. Assuming an uptake, the need to manage this...
