REST / WS adapter for Rails
...pter that would enable a Rails application to interface to a REST or SOAP web API? It would enable a Rails app to consume REST or SOAP via a model. Or is not worth the effort because web services are so different from databases, even though they are typically data sources? OT: proliant fedora asterisk
HP doesn't support Fedora on Proliant hw so you can't just install their ILO and get access to hw info like cpu/mb/temperature,powersupply status, fan info aso. I used the link below to get that access, which enabled me to write a small script that sends snmp-traps to hp-ovo. I did spend quite some time myself until I found this link. http://www.foo.be/cgi-bin/wiki.pl/GNULinuxCompaqProliantIML Freddi

Is this a good use for Single Table Inheritence?
Hi everyone, Where I work, there are several standards (heh) for position codes for staff and faculty. For instance, a Dean could be listed as DEA or DEN. An Assistant Professor could be AST or ASO. There are some cases where typos have crepts into the system, and AS0 (zero) could have meant ASO. Now, beyond getting those responsible to clean up their data (we are), I need to deal with this now. I was hoping Single Table Inheritence would help me. For all legit codes (you know, the ones I...

Atcom IP-4B ISDN IP PBX?
Hello For customers who need a small IP PBX to handle up to four ISDN lines (in France, so I guess that means EuroISDN) instead of a PC + Asterisk and an ISDN gateway box, has someone already played with the Atcom IP-4B? www.atcom.cn/IP-BRIM.html Any feedback appreciated.

Dovecot + SpamAssassin through dovecot-antispam
...ic SpamAssassin working on a Debian setup (w/ debian-spamd user), running as a Postfix transport. I am currently trying to switch it to a dovecot plugin in order to make it interactively work with the email storage (react to mail classification, being able to train it from already received emails, aso.) Comparing vectors from lists

Is this doable (list1$0 with list2$0, list2$1 ASO)? Thank you in advance, Christina [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

VMware multi-nic performance tech note
...and VMware, and compares the results. Just curious if there''s any work in progress that would improve this? I''d also love to see the test repeated with a Linux PV guest versus the fastest way to run a Linux guest on VMware to see how the performance is there. :) I''d aso be very curious to hear if VMware consulted with XenSource to ensure that their benchmarking configuration was optimal, as VMware requires you to do to publish benchmarks on ESX: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/benchmarking_approval_process.pdf --------------------------------------------------------...

How to deal with voice SMS - Asterisk 1.4
...number". If you press 1 you hear the message and after it you have the possibility to press 1 to repeat message or 2 to repeat the sender phone number. In a perfect world it's OK, but not here. There is fax detection, users send to voicemail directly, companies message with open hours aso. How to treat this with Asterisk knowing that such kind of messages are sended -at least for some operators- with a special callerID? At this time, I check the length of the first message, record it message for length seconds, then sendDTMF(1) and go to voicemail. All is good except that: - i...

Queue questions - Asterisk 11
...status. How to now if a call in queue has been answered or if caller just hangup? Second, how to deal with timeout, I have strange behaviors. If I put timeout=60 in queue.conf and I call the queue passing also 60 as timeout value, asterisk is returning after 5000ms the 4000 then 2000 then 2000 aso. I can replace the 60sec value on both place, or 60 in queue conf and 10 when calling queue, I never have a stable behavior and more, not what I want. Exemple: let say asterisk should try all 20 seconds to call the member for 8 seconds: how to configure this? What I found, is to put timeout=0...

Domain + Workgroup with same name: problem?
...the same name as the domain. They were already running when I introduced the Samba PDC into the network. When I switched them off and restarted Samba the PDC could be found sometimes but sometimes not. After messing around with what I took to be cached data on the Samba Server refering to WINS aso. I took the radical way and reinstalled Samba with the same configs but with a different domain name. That solved the problem for once. But it leaves a general problem: It looks as if you can render a PDC unusable if you introduce a machine into its network, that is in a workgoup of the same...

bad performance Vista <-> Samba over gbit
...45 - 50MB/s So it MUST be the combination Vista+Samba, what is VERY strange, as my last vista installation had normal transfer rates to the same samba server. Of course I've searched Google (for weeks indeed), but didn't find anything useful besides the default hacks (MMCS, jumbo frames, aso...). Sorry for asking a mainly vista related question in this list, but I thought here would be the best place to find people experiencing the same behaviour. Greets and regards, Neo / Thomas Weber

What's a Reasonable Inbox Size?
...inboxes that are over 20 GB. Lately I have noticed Dovecot logs say it's taking over 30 seconds to sync their mailboxes. As email admins,? how do you handle inboxes that are so large? Do you use mailbox types that have better performance like dbox? We're using maildir. What's a reasonable inbox size?? Is 20+ GB reasonable and nothing to worry about? Thanks for any insight here. -- Asai7
