smbd/password.c:domain_client_validate(1604)
...reigh offices to us through a VPN. All of our users authenticate to our PDC, our users in our foreign office, who is on the same domain but we have them on a different subnet, are not able to gain access to the SAMBA shares, here in the corporate office. The error messages below states that "asmith" on domain "AMY" is not a valid user. This is very confusing to me since here computer is on our domain "primary" not "AMY" and she authenticates to our PDC, here computers IP does have a different subnet. Can anyone point me in the right direction or know a wor...

...e idmap config * : ldap_base_dn = ou=idmap,dc=ste,dc=com idmap config * : ldap_user_dn = cn=admin,dc=ste,dc=com ldap delete dn = no ldap ssl = start tls We've setup libnss-ldap in the servers (both trac15 and trac5) When we enable winbind service, we get the following error user 'asmith' (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (dataldap). In the actual client when you open the share, it prompts for the login creds again and again When the winbind is disabled, The user is able to login and access the shares. Maildir, INDEX, and folders
I'm reading the wiki et el. regarding indexes, but can't come up with a coherent answer to the setup and what will happen. I want to take the indexes and move them off of NFS (~/Maildir) and place in /var/spool/dovecot/indexes, but not have to hand create everything (user homes, mail folders) So, I create a parent folder /var/spool/dovecot/indexes that has the appropriate permissions

WinXP and Samba PDC Auth Problem
I have been running a Samba PDC with Samba version 3.0.0 on Redhat 7.3 for quite some time. My WinXP Pro SP2 system is part of the domain and everything has been working just peachy. And then, of course, I had to tinker with it. I upgraded the linux box to Whitebox Linux 3.0, a derivative of Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0. It comes with Samba 3.0.7. After installing and updating everything, I

Smbpasswd to LDAP migration
...The only ldap access lines I have are access to attrs=lmPassword,ntPassword by dn="cn=admin,ou=People,dc=pandora-net,dc=com" write by * none access to dn="" by * read If I try to add a user using pdbedit I get: ldapsam_modify_entry: Failed to add user dn= uid=asmith,ou=People with: No such object This comes after asking me for a password for the user.
