OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all,
We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now,
most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using
either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find
internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers
(Japan, Korea and China atm).
I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation
programs, it'd be you guys. So, would anyone be able to recommend any
windows-based, Asian character set telnet/ssh terminal apps?
Thanks! Sorry for being a bit off topic, too. :...

Creating a map with central Asian countries
Dear all,
I am trying to create a map for central asian countries(Kazakhstan,
Uzbekstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenstan, and Tajikstan). I tried google for
shapefiles and Rdata files of central asia, but I can't seem to find them.
There is only a world map and individual maps for each countries. If I use
individual maps to create this map, how do I put the...

different output with fast-math flag
Why the output is different for this below program when compiled using
clang with fast-math optimization
#include<stdio.h>
int main() {
double d = 1.0;
double max = 1.79769e+308;
d /= max;
printf("d:%e:\n", d);
d *= max;
printf("d:%e:\n", d);
return 0;
}
prints 0 with fast math but 1 without fast math.

R-WinEdt unexcpected Asian characters
Dear list!
I have encountered an odd problem with R-WinEdt.
The program is mostly running fine and I had no problems with the installation.
But several times a day I'm typing in R-WinEdt there appears a menu with
Chinese characters where the curser is and I'm not able to type normally. I
don?t know any other way to stop it except restarting R-WinEdt. After that it
works normally for a

Linux Asian languages support
We're about to create a build of Linux for offices our company is opening in
Singapore and Korea. The staff there will be using the appropriate versions
of Word to write in their own language, and I've been asked to check that
Linux will be okay with that.
We don't need the OS to handle anything other than the normal character set
as such, since we'll be administering the servers

Complicated For Loop (to me)
...to run a loop that will subset my data into specific sets by
regions and by race/ethnicity. I'm trying to do this fairly compactly, and
I cannot get this to work.
A "simple" version of the code that I am trying to run is:
names <- c("white", "black", "asian", "hispanic")
for(j in names){
for(i in 1:9){
names.cd[i].es.wash <- 1
es.cd[i].names.w <- names.cd[i].es.wash +1
} ; }
I want the loop to create these variables so that I would have for example:
"white.cd1.es.wash" through "white.cd9.wash" and then the sa...

DIDs anywhere but here?
...nt to use it to meet ICANN requirements for providing a
valid phone number, yet pre-empting some of the telemarketing calls my
domain registrations generate. (Yes, I asked a similar question about
900# availability before). I'd prefer to have a number somewhere
outside the NANP, preferably an asian country. This number will
(obviously) be low-volume (minutes/month at the most), and shouldn't
cost more than a couple of bucks. Maybe a list member knows and/or is
using one?

[LLVMdev] Compiler name: Nāga
...a brief link explaining the specific Cambodian meaning -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_(mythology)#N.C4.81gas_in_Cambodia
I like this as a name, because it's unique short and easy to type and
remember (as long as you omit the accent, which is commonly done),
it's basically a southeast-asian dragon, so we're sticking with
traditional compiler iconography, and it's seven-headed, so it nicely
represents the many different uses LLVM can be put to.
It's also pretty easy to imagine a logo, because Cambodian Nāga
sculptures are pretty memorable as is:

multiple connection (be careful with carrier-grade NAT)
...situation is to use Carrier-grade NAT, means that thousands of mobile phones share the same public IP address.
The clean solution would be to use IPv6. Icecast is IPv6 ready.
I'm quite sure that it explains your situation, especially because you get this connections from Korea and Vietnam. The Asian region has much fewer IPv4 addresses to use compared to earlier connected regions (USA, EU), so Carrier-grade NAT is way more common in Asian mobile networks.
I was searching for a good explanation and a list or so of networks known to use Carrier-grade NAT. But I didn't found a list. This pre...

searching with chinese chars
Hi all,
maybe not a Ferret question, but I assume here might have came across
that already.
I wrote a simple CGI app that adds docs into a Ferret index. The idea
is testing asian languages input and searching.
The script that does the input seems to be OK. As David mentioned in a
question I made a little while ago, Ferret''s index is agnostic, in the
sense that you can store anything in it. I then wrote another one to
search the index created. This is what it looks...
