xyplot axis line width
Hi, another question: is there any argument that controls the line width of axis
box of xyplot()? I tried lwd=2 or lwd.axis=2 in xyplot() or within scales=list()
argument, without success.
Thanks

how to print "<=" in plot title
Hi, how can I print "<=" (I mean the symbol of just one character) in the main
title of a plot?
for example:
plot(1:10, main=paste("x <=", x))
where variable x is some number generated on the fly.
Thanks

sort matrix based on a specific order
Hi I have a character matrix with 2 columns A and B, If I want to sort the matrix based on the column B, but based on a specific order of characters:
mat<-cbind(c('w','x','y','z'),c('a','b','c','d'))
ind<-c('c','b','d','a')
I want "mat" to be sorted by the sequence in "ind":

cumulative incidence plot vs survival plot
Hi, I am wondering if anyone can explain to me if cumulative incidence (CI) is
just "1 minus kaplan-Meier survival"? Under what circumstance, you should use
cumulative incidence vs KM survival? If the relationship is just CI =
1-survival, then what difference it makes to use one vs. the other?
And in R how I can draw a cumulative incidence plot. I know I can make a

Hi John,
Brilliant solution and the best sort - when you finally solve your
problem by yourself.

rounding format
Hi,
The code round(0.0002234,4) will return 2e-04, how can
I return 0.0002 instead? I want to print 0.0002
instead of 2e-04 for formating purpose.
thanks

decimal points midline
Hi, does anyone know how to make decimal points midline when plotting? The journal to which we are going to submit a manuscript require this particular formatting, and it gives direction how to do this on PC: hold down ALT key and type 0183 on the number pad
Thanks

compare odds ratios
Hi there, is there any way to compare 2 odds ratios? I
have two tests that are supposed to detect a disease
presence. So for each test, I can compute an odds
ratio. My problem is how can I compare the 2 tests by
testing whether the 2 odds ratios are the same?

x-axis label print in 45 degree
Hi how can print x-axis labels in 45 degree in boxplot() (or plot in general)? I
can use las=2 to print in 90 degree, but it looks ugly. Is there a simple option
to do 45 degree easily?
Thanks

graphic widow overwrite
Hi,
I am running a loop to plot multiple plots. In s-plus,
it shows multiple pages in the graphic window to allow
checking on each plot. but in R, the next plot always
overwrite the previous one, so i can only have the
last plot produced, is there a way to have multiple
pages in the graphic window just like S-plus does?
Thanks

main effect & interaction in 2-way ANOVA
Hi,
I am just a little confused of mian effect in the
analysis of variance (ANOVA) when you include or do
not include an interaction term. Let's assume a simple
case of 2-way ANOVA with 2 factors A and B, each with
2 levels. If it shows that main effect for A is
significant when the interaction between A and B is
NOT included, and the main effect for A is NOT
significant when the interaction

logistic regression or not?
Hi, I have a dataset where the response for each person on one of the 2
treatments was a proportion (percentage of certain number of markers being
positive), I also have the number of positive & negative markers available for
each person. what is the best way to analyze this kind of data?
I can think of analyzing this data using glm() with the attached dataset:

sample size for survival curves
Dear R users, I am not asking questions specifically on R, but I know there are many statistical experts here in the R community, so here it goes my questions:
Freedman (1982) propose an approximation of sample size/power calculation based on log-rank test using the formula below (This is what nQuery does):
(Z(1-?/side)+Z(power))^2*(hazard.ratio+1)^2

automate curve drawing on nls() object
Hi, I would like to use the curve() function to draw the predicted curve from an nls() object. for example:
dd<-read.table("dd.txt",sep='\t',header=T,row.names=1)
obj<-nls(y~c+(d-c)/(1+(x/e)^b),data=dd,start=list(b=-1, c=0, d=100, e=150))

plotting region
Hi, I have been playing with graphic parameters to
meet my specific plot requirement. I would like to
draw a plot in the top right region of the plot
region, I can do that with a number of parameters such
as plt, mar or oma. For example setting the
parameters:
par(plt=c(0.28,0.956,0.25,0.9))
or
par(mar=c(10,8,4,1))
can do the job. But once I set those parameters, I

general linear hypothesis glht() to work with lme()

## batch is random effect
## model with interaction

data=dat)
