RedCloth versus BlueCloth efficiency
Has anyone profiled the performance of RedCloth versus BlueCloth?
I''m starting to realise that RedCloth is a more mature ruby project,
although Markdown the syntax maybe more widespread than Textilize.
Apart from the syntax, does anyone feel they have a preference, in terms
of performance or number of outstanding bugs?
Many thanks in advance.

Increasing the speed of speex playback
Hi. I'm Bill Cox, and I volunteer a bit for the Vinux project, which
is Linux for people with vision impairments. Most blind users use a
closed-source speech synthesis tool called voxin, as it's very easy to

on large recorded vocabularies of actual speech, but to make it useful
for the blind, I need to be able to

speeding read.table
R 2.15.1
OS X
Colleagues,
I am reading a 1 GB file into R using read.table. The file consists of 100 tables, each of which is headed by two lines of characters.
The first of these lines is:
TABLE NO. 1
The second is a list of column headers.
For example:
TABLE NO. 1
COL1 COL2 COL3 COL4 COL5 COL6 COL7 COL8 COL9 COL10

Large Enterprises using asterisk
HI
I want to know
Why large enterprises (F500) are not shifting to
asterisk as it is going to save them a lot of

4. Rexcel (Luis Felipe Parra)-how to run a code from excel
Hi Louis,
It's simple to run a r script from the excel spreadsheet.
Just write your code, source("C:\\Quantil
Aplicativos\\Genercauca\\BackwardSelectionNC.r"), into a cell of a
workingsheet. Then right-click the cell and select "run code" in the pop-up
menu.
Hope this will help you.
Best,
Bernard
