Error: An unusual circumstance has arisen in the nesting of readline input
Hi,
If I have warnings converted to errors, and if I plot a simple plot and
then resize and move the plot's window many times, I eventually get an
error "Display list redraw incomplete", and after a while an endlessly
repeating error "An unusual circumstance has arisen in the nesting of
readline input".
I cannot stop it using Ctrl-C (Ctrl-Z works though).
I'm using R 2.5.0 inside a gnome-terminal on Ubuntu Dapper. See more
details below.
Thanks,
Gad

How to save a complete image of the current state of R ?
Hello,
I like to save the complete state of R, i.e. including
all environments, objects/workspaces, loaded packages etc..
This wish has arisen since I am not able to reproduce
an error which occurs when running R CMD check.
Many thanks for your advice in advance.
Best Regards
Andreas

Users with large (4GB) inboxes crippling dovecot
...s running Fedora Core 4 and dovecot v0.99.14.
What is happening is that as users log in (via thunderbird), they are shown
the contents of their mailboxes. However, when they try and access a given
email, they get no response even if they wait upwards of 10 minutes. I
believe that the problem has arisen from their huge inboxes, several users
have inboxes in excess of 4GB.
Do any of you know how I could split these large mbox files down in to
manageable chunks of 1GB?
Please be aware that I only have remote access to the server over a modest
internet connection.
Thanks again for any suggestions....

Just a quick heads up -- removing BBVectorize from LLVM (and Clang)
If you don't use BBVectorize at all, you can ignore this.
Hal suggested this in a thread in 2014:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2014-November/079091.html
None objected then, and I don't think any new uses have arisen so I plan to
just remove it. It is causing maintenance burden, complexity, and is a set
of features I'd rather not port to the new PM.
Just an FYI email to folks so they aren't confused when the patches land.

sites and subnets
...on is could the sites and services tool have triggered some
bug in samba ? So much time has elapse I don't see that it is possible to
go back and trouble shoot that way we should.
I'm just wondering if there are any known issues with sites and services --
or possible issues that could have arisen because of this tool .

[LLVMdev] Changing the value returned by sizeof
...size. A problem
arises when the following line occurs in the source code:
MyStruct *a = malloc(sizeof(a));
The 'sizeof(a)' is turned into a constant in the LLVM IR, resulting in the
wrong amount of memory being allocated for the struct. Is there any way to
find all the constants that have arisen from sizeof?
Thanks, Peter

Problem with xcopy /d & samba
A problem has arisen with the way samba handles file
creation dates compared to NT/win2k, which prevents
xcopy /d from working correctly.
On NT/Win2k, files copied from another NT machine using
xcopy end up with the modified dates equal to the original
modified date of the file, and the created and accessed
dates...

[LLVMdev] MCJIT finalizeObject output to use in external process
A need has arisen to generate code using MCJIT but not in the target
process instead in a different process (and possibly even different machine
though not in the scope).
Reading through the tutorials and MCJIT design document, it seems like this
is possible or was kept in mind during design of MCJIT.

Random Behavior on Trunk Lines with TDM Card
...itself. This is great, of course, but I was wondering if someone
out there could give me a more detailed explanation of why this works
and why you have to implement this trick with some telecom providers and
not with others. Verison provides our trunks at our branch office, but
this issue has never arisen at our home office where we have SBC. We are

xf86-video-nouveau and NVIDIA Drivers
...On the road to remedy, I found that using the
xf86-video-nouveau 2D accel driver in conjunction with the nvidia driver
proved to be the answer. I've used this combination on more than one
machine since that time, without problems. (Nothing is blacklisted.)
Recently, a number of people have arisen questioning the validity of the
combo. Hence, I ask, is the nouveau driver of any real value in this
scenario? Or am I just lucky?
Thanks.
All the best,

Hidden Rhistory files
...under Windows have been set as "Hidden". Recently, I put the
following line in my global Rprofile file:-
history(max.show=Inf)
so that I automatically open the entire history file for a project when
I begin a session, but I don't see why that would cause a problem.
This problem has arisen several times in the last few days while working
on different Rdata files in different folders. When I manually uncheck
the "hidden" attribute of my Rhistory file, the problem goes away. But
why did the files get that attribute in the first place? Is this
something that R itself may have...

I can't say when this bug has arisen exactly. All I know is that it

As Anton says, this appears to fix the problem on my boxes - I've tried
compiling the same bit over and over and no problems have arisen yet. Thanks
Anton and Chris for your speedy response (I notice it's already in svn!).

iptables logging
Hi All,
A few years ago I was asked if I could redirect console messages from
Iptables to a different virtual console, on RedHat 7.3 . I managed to
do it, but can't remember how I did it, now that the same question has
arisen ona Centos 3.4 box.
I edited /etc/syslog.conf and redirected kern.* to /dev/tty2 for example
& this didn't work
I edited /etc/sysconfig/syslog and modified klogd options with -f
/dev/tty2 & this didn't work either
So I stopped syslogd and klogd altogether and iptables still logs...
