Samba-3.0.0rc4/ADS experience (with how-to change suggestion)
...hich all worked as expected), I ended up with some smbd processes consuming lots and lots of CPU time but not accomplishing anything. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the problem, so I guess this report is not very useful... Otherwise, kudos on a wonderful package. I've been an ardent Samba supporter and user for years now, but this was my first experience with Samba-3 and ADS. Well done!

Fwd: Erika DeBenedictis-Recommendation
...rship, and willingness to compromise and collaborate saw our winning project through. From her, I learned more than just technical programming skills, but the social and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed and integrate in a scientific team. In this sense, I owe her much. > > As both an ardent competitor and a genuinely concerned supporter of the challenge, Erika is deserving of your scholarship that could aid in extending her knowledge and scientific passions at the collegiate level - I honestly cannot imagine anyone else more fitting. > > Sincerely, > Chris Hong -- Celia B...

Vacation message functionality
Hi, Since I will soon be attempting to get this working on one of my client's systems, I posed a question on the postfix list - since they mostly dislike vacation messages - but *ardent haters* of badly configured vacation message systems - as to the quality of the dovecot vacation message function. The only response I got did seem to have a few very good suggestions for additional conditions to test for, so I'm posting the response here to see if they can be incorporated...

a kinder view of Type III SS
A young colleague (Matthew Keller) who is an ardent fan of R is teaching me much about R and discussions surrounding its use. He recently showed me some of the sometimes heated discussions about Type I and Type III errors that have taken place over the years on this listserve. I'm presumptive enough to believe I might add a little clarity. I...

[support@mydivaplayer.com: Re: Ogg Vorbis support? -=[2214]=-]
...dation somewhat recently released a fixed-point library to decode Ogg Vorbis files, making this a viable format for portable players (finally). I ask my question, because it seems you are in fact aware of this market segment (non-mainstream users that is) and because in the past I have been an ardent IRiver supporter simply based on their attention to updating the firmware for all their players. Their new ifp line of flash based (albeit unexpandable) players is very interesting in this regard, since I'm sure the firmware will not differ too much from their other units. There was also talk...

Auditing filesystems for Linux?
Does anyone know of any Linux-based filesystem that does file-level auditing and logs based on username? Does ext2/3 do such auditing (stock or with patches)? I would like a filesystem that can be told to audit and log file deletions and log the username that deleted the file (similar to auditing on NTFS). I know, I should be using file permissions to prevent this type of deletion from

Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute (Buffalo,NY) is an independent, non-profit research facility that is committed to improving human health through biomedical research. Faussette draws the same dark conclusion: Consider for a moment the campaign of demonization of the European American Christian majority and its culture that we see in the media, academia and legislated from the bench. What if this campaign mirroring the public vilification employed by ardent and merciless communist regimes is completely successful here in North America, not now perhaps, but in a generation or two, something for our grandchildren to inherit? Imagine an economic downturn of blackouts, food shortages and riots in which all law enforcement niches are filled by media-molde...

[REQUEST] Request for Xen Users to Attempt Jean David Techer's Xen 4.2-unstable VGA Passthrough Documentation
Dear Xen Users, I have _partial_ (that is, less than 100%) success following Jean David Techer''s Xen 4.2-unstable VGA Passthrough Documentation. In both Windows 8 Consumer Preview HVM and Windows XP Home Edition HVM, I get yellow exclamation mark besides NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS in Device Manager. NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS in Device Manager reports: 1) Windows has stopped this device
