Arch linux PV guest won't boot
...sed anything from the wiki . And everything goes smoothly (i.e. all commands complete without error). My understanding is that pygrub will take care of booting as long as /boot/grub/grub.conf exists and is setup correctly which I believe I have done. I copied the sample grub.conf from "Xen - ArchWiki"(https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xen) and used the UUID for "/" found in /etc/fstab (its the same I get from blkid) The wiki mentions that without certain modules in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf the VM will not boot. But I've added them as shown below. So I'm not sure why I...

libvirt/qemu and cgroups
...manage the resource in an efficient way right out of the box? If not, It's all about /etc/cgconfig.conf and cgrules.conf. I am honestly not sure : -what are the correct mount points for cpu, memory etc in the /sys/fs/cgroup directory . - which directories am I supposed to mk, if any ? Then, Archwiki[1] says: # cgcreate -a $USER -g memory, cpu:groupname - what is the groupename I shall create (qemu*, MyMachine) ? - which $USER shall I use (qemu*, my username) ? * qemu:qemu as user:group in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf Thank you for some help as I admit if I understand the cgroups principle and ad...

Cups freeze when remote server is unavailable
Hi John thanks for your quick reply. If it is not a bug, as I was reading on the web, it is some misunderstanding from me. Running cups 1.4.2 (CentOS6) I was using the "BrowsePoll" directive in cupsd.conf. So the printers were automatically known from the central server of the lab. And home printers were working fine with this setup too. In CentOS7, with cups 1.6.3, this directive does

Fail to set up UEFI syslinux on ArchLinux USB Flash Drive
...hLinux as I used originally (as documented in my OP), I put a (double) slash in front of "EFI", i.e., I now have efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sdd -p 1 -l \\EFI\\syslinux\\syslinux.efi -L ... and I finally get the expected nice menu prompt !!! Thanks. UNFORTUNATELY as documented in the latest ArchWiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Syslinux#UEFI_Systems) quote, "For syslinux, kernel and initramfs files need to be in the ESP, as syslinux does not (currently) have the ability to access files outside its own partition..." so this is as far as I can go with my attempt to use UEFI...

How to access optical drive (cd, dvd)?
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem accessing my optical (CD/DVD) drive under WINE. What I would like to do is access it "directly" through WINE, i.e. whenever I insert a CD or DVD, I'd like WINE to detect it under it's E:\ (or D: or whatever) drive. However, I don't know how to set this up (and even whether it's possible, but I suppose it is). My CD/DVD drive is

Internal DNS, update of reverse zone fails
...amba addc controller. Samba version is samba-4.11.6-r2. I've joined two win10 clients to my domain. One client has a static ip, the other one was configured to ask my dhcpd-daemon for an ip. Following the book from stefan kania, I modified my dhcpd.conf to execute some scripts I've found on ArchWiki to add my win10-dynip-client to the internal dns server (A,PTR,...) of my samba-addc. It took quite a while but it works. My win10-static-client-name is resolved by the internal dns server, verified with nslookup SOMENAME. Unfortunately the win10-static-client did not add an entry to the reverse l...

System: ArchLinux x86_64 [testing][community-testing] enabled; Wine: 1.3.17-1 , WINEARCH=win32 , lib32-nvidia-utils and other packages recommend by archwiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wine) were installed. Problem description: Successfully installed homm4 and all of its expansions to a folder inside my /home folder. When I start heroes4.exe the 3DO mini cinematic shows up just like I remember it and after that the game crashes. I think it c...

...cups web interface and not for its actuality) which should give you all information's to get it work. At least for desktop setups cups should be running by default, see "systemctl status cups" to check if it's running. For a more in-depth view on cups I can recommend reading the archwiki [2]. best regards Markus [1] https://www.linux.com/learn/linux-101-printing [2] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS On Mon, 2018-10-29 at 15:35 +0100, Patrick B?gou wrote: > Hi John > > thanks for your quick reply. [Bug 1212] New: excessive memory usage with kernel 4.14
...og at lists.netfilter.org Reporter: thomas.schwark at gmail.com Hey, Im sorry in advance I am not able to fix this but installing kernel 4.14 and above leads to an excessive use of memory tested on two machines. A system that needs around 500 MB now uses around 15 GB out of 16 GB. The archwiki here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ipset says to use this script to update sources: https://github.com/ilikenwf/pg2ipset/blob/master/ipset-update.sh As soon as I run the script manually with kernel 4.14 and newer the excessive memory usage starts again. If I then stop ipset service the m...

Because of the windows Pass through authentication, and guest on windows is disabled.. Result, authentication popup. map to guest = Bad User was the online setting which got it working for me. I really suggest we have a look at this again. Check the archlinux also

@Alex, please next time use "Reply All" (instead of the simple "Reply") for the mailing list emails; that way the emails will get to the Syslinux Mailing List (instead of arriving to particular members).
