[re-post] Printing issues. 2.2.7, Solaris9
...rs are setup on the server with Solaris lpadmin and again all run very basic setups. We have to send out mailers and have some lovely pre printed carbon forms which we feed through a Dot Matrix Printer. They are 11" wide X 5.5" Long. I have setup the Printer and a form (apu-mailer) in Solaris and it works perfic when you fire a job off with the form name on the server, but I need to pass an f apu-mailer parameter to the printer via Samba to tell the Solaris lpd to print using the form, rather than wait until the form is un mounted from the printer, at which point it t...

Install CentOS 7 over serial port on router board ?
Hi, I have to install CentOS 7 for a client, to act as cache & filtering proxy using Squid. I'd like to use this piece of specialized hardware : http://store.calexium.com/fr/systeme-pre-assemble/869-systeme-pre-assemble-rackmatrix-apu-amd-gx-412tc-quatre-coeurs-1-ghz.html There is no VGA or HDMI video output, just a serial port to connect to, and then three NICs and two USB ports. I've never installed CentOS over a serial console, so I don't even know if it's possible in the first place. Has anyone ever done someth...

rosh patch
...Below is a patch for the com32/rosh/rosh.c from tonights syslinx git. The patch does the following: 1) changes the rosh_issp to use an if instead of a case for this simple test. 2) changes the rosh_dir_arg function to move the readdir() to inside the while test. This will let me go through my APUE book. Let me know if you have any questions. Using a CentOS 6 Machine as a gateway/router/home server
...te everyone is moving over to the Intel Avoton/Rangley 'system on a chip', this is the Xeon Atom C2xx8 series, like this... http://store.netgate.com/ADI/RCC-VE-2440-board.aspx (other versions of Rangley come with 2-4-6 ethernet ports, and 2-4-8 cores) these are higher performance than the APU, for somewhat more watts and dollars. -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz

Setting up and helping debug EFI PXE booting
Hello, I see lots of current activity trying to get EFI PXE working both with new and "old" kernels (RHEL 6.5) and lots of failures. I've got several real pieces of hardware (AMD APU, Intel E5-2600, etc.) with a variety of BIOS and NIC that have EFI PXE stacks to test with. But I find zero documentation that's up to date on the wiki of how to configure a DHCP server to send the right syslinux.efi when an EFI PXE clients sends a request and how to configure the TFTP directo...

Read only nfsroot and diskless booting CentOS 6?
...er UEFI based computers. I'm just looking to boot about 20 or so small modern PC's into a stripped down gnome desktop with a few apps installed. I still have not decided on the diskless clients I want to use. I was thinking either something like the low end intel NUC or one of the small AMD APU based PC's. David C Miller.
