Samba - cannot print multiple copies
Hi,
I successfully setup printing on my FreeBSD box
using Samba with apsfilter and lprng. However, I
have encountered two issues:
1) Cannot print multiple copies of documents from
my windows box (e.g. notepad). Only the first
copy is printed and the rest don't get printed.
2) My spool directory is getting filled up and
I would like the job removed after the print

Wine with CUPS support
Hello,
some time ago, I saw a version of wine that relies on CUPS for
printing. At that time I was using apsfilter to print so I didn't fetch
this version. Now I'd like to make a download but can't manage to find
this version anymore. Any hints?

lpr / lpd in raw mode
...2) Samba recieves the data, and stores it in a file on your
server.
3) Then, lpr ist called with the file the data was stored in as a
parameter (you can change the command line for calling lpr in your
smb.conf).
Normally, if you call lpr, the data is sent through a "magic" filter (like
apsfilter). This filter recognizes the type of data you sent, and converts
it so that your printer understands it (e.g. if you send a postscript
file, it is sent through ghostscript).
"Raw" Modem simply means, that lpr doenst use any filter, it just
sends the data from the file directly to your...

HP LJ6 prints blank page at end of W95 print job
...P LJ6 as a network printer on a Samba server (linux).
Everything works fine except... whenever a W95 print job finishes, the
printer throws a blank page. I've tried everything short of hex dumping the
output - I've tried using a minimal printcap entry with no filtering, I've
tried using apsfilter... The really odd thing is the binary data itself
can't be being mangled since it prints correctly. If I move the same
printer to a W95 system and print on it using the same settings and W95
drivers, I don't get the page throw. If I print the apsfilter test bitmap
of a tiger, I don't...

I don't know much about your HP3100, but I have two sites both of which
allow users to print from Linux systems to HP printers (HPLJ6 and
HPDJ540)on W95 machines using ghostscript (I set this up by installing
apsfilter then editing the apsfilter interface scripts to use smbclient. In
fact I can print successfully from the W95 system via the Linux print
spooler and back to the W95 system again) (pretty pointless huh).
I have no idea why your Linux print request is crashing the W98 system - it
suggests it is hit...

...es in the name of the printer allowed?
The command smbclient -L server shows the printer as HP 4MP (not HP_4MP).
2.Can you please send me working /etc/printcap,
smb.conf or other related Samba files for the same
printer?
No matter which distribution, I will install anything accordingly. (The Slakc apsfilter worked
for me only when printed locally).
Thanks a lot,

Printing woes
Hi,
I've been using Samba for a while, and I'm now running all network
printing here from Samba. However, while printing itself works fine, my
users can neither view the print queue, nor delete jobs from it, and
this is beginning to get annoying. I'm using LPRng to do all the
printing. All the clients are NT4 workstations. Here's some selected
bits of /etc/smb.conf and

Printing via Cups uses lpr ??
...ted.
All I get is a printout that looks like this:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: Wine PostScript Driver
%%Title: Whatever
And dozens of blank pages ...
Looks like wine uses lpr for printing while it should use cups instead.
Any ideas why ?
I tried to install apsfilter, but couldn't get it to work because there
is no driver for my HP PSC1510 (at least I couldn't find one).
Thanks for your help

[Fwd: print queue problem]
William,
Thanks for your reply. I'am running SuSe Linux 6.0 with samba
version 1.9.18p10. I have installed my HP cdeskjet printer with
YAST (SuSe) as a samba printer. SuSe use the apsfilter as print
filter. I have a file /etc/apsfilterrc.cdeskjet. In this file
there is a line:
REMOTE_PRINTER="/usr/bin/samba_print //kinderen/hp -U kinderen -N -P"
where kinderen= win98 client on which the HP printer is connected.
The samba_print file comes with the SuSe distributions....

Printer in Win2k to share with RH Server
Hello fellows,
I have this kind of configuration: one PC acting as samba server (PDC) with
RH7.3 and three workstations with win2k.
Today I've installed an Epson Stylus C62 printer on one of the Win2k
machines (shared by the name of epsonlpt, and now I want to know if it is
possible to use this printer from the RH Server? If yes, can you tell me how?
Thanks in advance,

Where does the printcommand go then?

Print Server
Ok, here's my setup: I've had a samba file server going for about a year
now. It's Samba v2.05a on a RH6.0 sys. Currently we have a printer
server running on a Winblows NT box. This NT box has the following
printers: HP5si, (4) HP4000, and a few HP4s. All of those printers have
Jet Direct ports on them. What I want to do is, move all the printers
over to the Samba box and KILL the NT

my mistake compiling kernel
Dear FreeBSD!
On my home machine I`ve tried to
compile custom kernel for 5_0 release.
In a script commented out all scsi, raid,
ethernet, nfs options, I had not. So I`ve
included atapicam options and "device
pcm" for AC97 sound chip. After all,
result was an error:
