aproximate a titration kurve to the measure data.
.... people from chemistry recomend "R"
last year i studied civil eng. and we used Matlab, as I see, R ist very
similar to it, but its got other comands.
But i think R would be a good help for some exercises.
so my main question is: i have some measurement data from my titration, and
I want aproximate a kurve to this data. is it possible to do it with R?
a titration kurve looks like this:

hope you can help me, and yes when its possible, if you know something like
a tutorial then i would be glad if you could post it.

Prediction intervals for zero inflated Poisson regression
Dear all,
I'm using zeroinfl() from the pscl-package for zero inflated Poisson
regression. I would like to calculate (aproximate) prediction intervals
for the fitted values. The package itself does not provide them. Can
this be calculated analyticaly? Or do I have to use bootstrap?
What I tried until now is to use bootstrap to estimate these intervals.
Any comments on the code are welcome. The data and the model are based

run scripts on samba server
...d like to know if there is some sort of call implemented in samba to start a script on the server without login into Linux. Before I used samba, I had a dosbased serversystem where I could open a file on the server with a certain open-modus and the file would then be executed on the server. This is aproximately what I'm thinking about.
Any hints? Thanks.

asterisk sizing for play and dtmf detection
...odec)
The IVR service wil be a static service based on Asterisk dialplan
with some prompt (from 0 to 5, play of files in the same codec of the
received call) and some dtmf detections.
How many simultaneous call can i handle per server? each server will have:
4 core 3.0 Ghz
4 GB of RAM
I need an aproximate sizing:
0-100 calls per server ?
100-200 calls per server ?
200-300 calls per server ?
300-400 calls per server?
400-500 calls per server?
Thanks to all in advance

Problem asterisk voicemail message records
Hello!
I've got a little problem with Asterisk (11.14.1), the voicemessages are
kinda limited to 40 seconds (average) aproximately; because when a message
reach this long I got a cut in the file (*.wav) after I got this message:
WARNING[15035][C-000021ef]: format_wav_gsm.c:418 wav_read: Short read (20)
(Resource temporarily unavailable)!
Does anyone got this problem, any idea of what is happening?
Thanks

might do (via samba). My understanding is that Unix filenames can contain
any sequence of bytes except for the null byte, so why should this cause a
problem? Is there an rsync option to allow these files to transfer? Should
I go back to rsync 3.0.6?
Rsync commands are (aproximately):
rsync --server -logDtprze.iLsfxC --delete . /disk/
and
rsync -a -z -t --delete -e ssh -l root host:/disk/

index storage usage
...failed in finding the answer in the wiki so i'm asking it here.
In average, how much the dovecot's indexes increase the usage of storage,
compared to a standard maildir mailbox?
I believe it would be a function of the number of messages instead of the
message's size. Is there a known aproximated function for that?
Thank you.

accuracy of chi-square distribution approximations
Hi there,
How accurate is the aproximation R makes to the Chi-Square distribution?
For example, if I run:
> qchisq(1/1000000,6)
[1] 0.03650857
how accurate is 0.0365 compared to the theoretical percentile? What kind
of approximations have been made in the software's algorithm? It woudl be
useful to know since I am working with tiny percentiles such as one

One rather theoretical question about fitting algorithm
Hi,
What I'm trying to achieve is very fast algorithm for fitting logistic
regression model. I have to estimate regression coeficients using
about 10k observations. Once I have coefficients estimated, new 100
rows of data becomes available.... Now I need to reestimate
coeficients using 100 newly arrived observations and removing 100
oldest observations.
So, my question is would it be

If you were not looking for the minimum, what would you suggest we run it off of? (Is there some rough formula for calculating aproximate needs as far as CPU/RAM is concerned?)
We are also looking to do this in house, but it would be new technology for us. We need to have it up and running by Sept 16th. If we thought that we could not make this deadline, and wanted to do outsource this setup to speed things up, what would be the...
