Reliability of Tinc under load
Hi,
Tinc (1.0.24, GNU/Linux) has proven very unreliable under load.
We have several nodes connected, and some of them use another node as
default gateway to get a secured internet connection.
Both of these nodes work great and have a stable link when nothing but
ping probes pass over the link. However, running a full Debian
dist-upgrade, downloading a big mailbox, or just typing quickly in a

[PATCH RFC 3/3] xen/virtio_ring: introduce cpu_to_virtio_addr and virtio_addr_to_cpu
When running on Xen inside as virtual machine (nested virt scenario),
addresses need to be translated from phys to machine to get the actual
guest pseudo-physical address.
Introduce a new pair of functions, cpu_to_virtio_addr and
virtio_addr_to_cpu, which call the appriopriate __virtio64_to_cpu and
__cpu_to_virtio64 functions after doing the phys_to_bus and bus_to_phys
translations for Xen.

error using daisy() in library(cluster). Bug?
Hi,
I'm using the cluster library to examine multivariate data.
The data come from a connection to a postgres database, and I did a short R
script to do the analisys. With the cluster version included in R1.8.0, daisy
worked well for my data, but now, when I call daisy, I obtain the following
messages:

X100p on VIA EPIA-V problems
Hi All,
I hope I'm posting this to the appriopriate list, and that cross posting
to two lists is OK. (If not, I'm sure I'll hear about it quickly :))
I'm running Asterisk on my (new) VIA EPIA-V motherboard.
This seems to be the ideal platform for a home version of asterisk - its
small, quiet, low power, and should have plenty of computing horsepower
if only it would work!

[PATCH RFC 0/3] Xen on Virtio
Hi all,
this patch series introduces support for running Linux on top of Xen
inside a virtual machine with virtio devices (nested virt scenario).
The problem is that Linux virtio drivers use virt_to_phys to get the
guest pseudo-physical addresses to pass to the backend, which doesn't
work as expected on Xen.

Yum w/o direct connect
I am hoping someone else is already doing what I need to do, and can give
me some pointers.
Situation:
1. I am running Centos 4.3 x86_64 on a machine at home, without broadband
access. I have dialup access, but that doesn't work very well for
something like "yum update", so I am still running 4.3 as issued on the CDs.
2. I have high speed access at work, and I have a USB drive to

Giving a first good impression of R to Social Scientists
Dear all,
in the coming Winter Semester, I will be a teaching assistant for a course
in Survival Analysis. My job will be to do the lab sessions. The software
used for these lab sessions will be R. Most of the students have a
background in social sciences and the only stats package they used so far is
most likely SPSS.
So I assume they might be quite surprised the first time they see R

Xen or KVM
Hi,
I am new to virtualization and I am having the obvious hassle of choosing between Xen and KVM.
Can Xen experts help me with this?
Regards,
Arindam
