[Feature Request] delete defined line in known_hosts file
...from the
known_hosts file. Unfortunately, it is quite non-trivial to find out
what ssh doesn't like with a host.
ssh says which line in known_hosts has the offending key, but
ssh-keygen -R doesn't take a line number. Am I using an undocumented
interface when I simply use sed to delete the appopriate line?
If so, it would be good if ssh-keygen -R would also take a line number
to delete from the known_hosts file.
Greetings
Marc

Max FIFO buffer size - Log Reporting
...for this is to pipe the syslog entries (logged from many
hosts UNIX-Like and Windows) out to a a named pipe (say
/var/log/logpipe) that is then read periodically by a perl script
started from cron.
The perl script then filters the log entries (probably using regular
expressions) and takes the appopriate action based on the severity of
the error (i.e. log to summary file, or immediately email admin).
My main concern is that if a lot of entries get logged the FIFO buffer
may overload therefore loosing entries.
Does anyone know what the size of the FIFO buffer is (or how it can be
configured) or...

Shorewall 1.3.5
...operation was aborted.
With the new code, the wait time is determined by the value of
MUTEX_TIMEOUT (default 60 seconds). If the file is not removed
within MUTEX_TIMEOUT, the state-changing operation will assume that
the lock file is stale and will issue a message and continue.
An appopriate setting for MUTEX_TIMEOUT is twice the time that it takes
your firewall system to process a "shorewall restart" command.

Bootstrap error rate of logistic disrmination model
Hi,
i am trying to find an appopriate R function which will estimate the bias
associated with the apparent error rate of my logistic discriminant model
(groups = 2, covariates = 3). I have read that bootstrapping can be used for
this. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about doing this?
I have quite a small sample size for one...

Attaching a hostdev on startup
Hello!
I have written a script which attaches some USB tokens as hostdev devices
to (qemu) VMs managed by libvirt. This works fine as long as I call the
script manually.
But what I really want to do, is run this scrip from a startup hook, so
that whenever a Vm is started, it looks if there are appopriate tokens
available for attachment. But when the script is run from the hook, it
(along with the whole libvirtd) freezes. That doesn't really come as a
surprise, since http://libvirt.org/hooks.html explicitely states
A hook script must not call back into libvirt, as the libvirt daemon is
already...

Adding support for phonetic correction via soundex algorithms
Hello!
I'm Shubham Sharma, a 3rd year Information Systems student at BITS Pilani,
and I'd like to explore the possibilities of a GSOC Project that would aim
at improving the tolerant retrieval capabilities via *phonetic* correction(:
misspellings that arise because the user types a query that sounds like the
target term. ) I did find spelling correction via edit distance in

LM: Least Squares on Large Datasets OR why lm() is designed the w ay it is
Hi,
I have always been wondering why S-Plus/R can not fit a linear model to an
arbitrary large data set given that, I thought, it should be pretty
straightforward. Sometime ago I came across a reference to LM package,
http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~anovo/LM.html, by Roger Koenker and Alvaro Novo.
So I thought here it is at last, but to my surprise this project hasn't made
to the recommended

Samba4 alpha >20 version: Samba & smbd daemons !
In Samba4 alpha 21 and 22 Smbd daemon has to be run except Samba daemon to get access to your shared NetBios resources (folders) .That is in case of alpha versions after 20, Samba daemon starts in its own smbd daemon automatically and with with some parameters such as --configfile and --foreground (but without -D parametr that is not as daemon) .After Samba is started there are 2 processes: Samba
