Hi, I have a dilemma - here's some background: Up until recently, a series of local scripts that run on our network ran on a Mac OS X box. I would like to migrate these scripts to a Fedora Core 4 box (for better perl, ruby,and pythoiin support), however, the scripts use directories in the Appleshare network. I have the /Volumes directory, in which OSX mounts the shares, shared via Windows Sharing on the Mac OS X box (which is essentially samba compiled for Mach, I believe). FYI There may soon be an alternative to running netatalk and samba to allow users of Macs and PCs to access the same drive. I have just seen a file called: /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/sshHelper I wonder what will break, if I disable Apples own OpenSSH implementation. Would FileSharing not work anymore? A recent update was made to our "standard image" for new computers. It is for win2K. These new computers cannot connect to a Samba 3 server running a simple smb.conf.
