...DRM on top of that. While I've never tried it, it's my understanding that you can use calibre to remove the drm encryption on a purchased ebook so you can read it with something like fbreader (which, as far as I know, can't read a drm-encrusted ebook). Calibre is also available as an appimage. https://bintray.com/probono/AppImages/download_file?file_path=Calibre-3.18.0.glibc2.14-x86_64.AppImage -- Can we uninstall 2020 and install it again? Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
...s in Fedora and rebuild them. > > > > > > So what's the easy way? > > > Switch to Ubuntu or something? 8-O Just a heads-up; I just installed CentOS 7 x64 on a test machine to try stuff out at work. Went to openshot.org to download Openshot, and noticed they now have appimages. Just chmod +x the appimage-file and run it. Worked like a charm on C7! It was really fast as well, compared to running the previous version on CentOS 6. I might have to upgrade to CentOS 7 at home too... 8-} -- //Sorin

somewhat OT -- are .appimage files safe?
Hello all. I'm in the midst of trying to transfer a G+ community to something else. I came across this site-- https://blog.friendsplus.me/export-google-plus-feeds-45926c925891 that actually has an advanced "exporter" app but it is an ".appimage" app. I am not familiar with this at all and was wondering if someone on this list is. Thanks for any help. -- "Less is more." ---------------- MzK

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
...it bundles all the deps in one archive, so you no longer depend on system ones, but also you miss out on system updates. As an example, should there be another openssl vulnerability, "yum update openssl" will not save you, you'll have to wait for the Openshot dev to issue an updated appimage. -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
Very nice, it probably has to do with http://appimage.org/ So the appimage did not work on EL6? Anyway, hope to see more apps like this. :-) Big win for the users usability wise, not sure how security will be impacted. -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! Attempting to get BLF working with linphone
Hi John, 1. Could you get any further, in your quest for working BLF with linphone ? 2. Have you tried with a different Linphone version (4.12 is pending on Linux, packaged as an AppImage, or 4.11 exists on iOS/Android/Win10) ? Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
...ell for the most part. Size is not too much of a problem in my book, as long as I don't have to spend hours on end to find out what repos have the proper dep's and doesn't mismatch with each other, in order to install the software I wanted in the first place. An OT sidetrack; has this appimage-thing been going on for some time now? Openshot is the first software I've seen that is delivered this way. -- //Sorin

HW update. Fedora 30 to Centos?
Due hardware update. Many years on Fedora, would like to swap out to AMD motherboard( x570) and graphics (RX480) I'm led to believe that Fedora Linux is too 'new' for Centos. Question for those with experience of both, what will I miss on Centos wrt Fedora? Not all that bothered about being 'up to the minute', and after 20+ Fedora installs it does get to be a drag... Has

Version 4 of linphone is, frankly, rubbish.  I have managed to hack it to the point where presence shows green for connected contact and grey for disconnected.  However this requires setting the "send subscribe" flag in the linphone contacts db...

HW update. Fedora 30 to Centos?
...edora to CentOS for my work laptop. 99% of the time it's the same. Few programs can be missing by default or old version like for my professional activity : wireshark, keepassXC, linphone, sipcalc, etc.. But with a bit of compilation inside a docker (to avoid installing dev libs on the OS) or AppImage/FlatPak/Snap you can run everything. Some default parameters on gnome are different too, just a question of configuration. Happy with my CentOS on my laptop so far (hp envy). Much more stable. Never had a crash after hibernate/back to life or external screen not discovered for no (good) reason....

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
I'm interested in trying out the new OpenShot beta (2.06) on CentOS 7. Openshot requires Python3. so I look at available packages where I find a bunchof python3 packages as well as python34 packages. I'm assuming that python34 is version 3.4 of python, while python3 is some other 3.x version. Can anyone here explain to me what are the differences, any compatibility across these
