Samba + Clipper too slow
...ation run VERY VERY slow.
This application has been shared with Windows 98, 2K or XP
and run too much faster than Samba.
We tried tuning the smb.conf modifying parameters:
oplock, lock spin time, etc...
We have read the documentation about SAMBA in:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/appb_02.html
http://www.drouillard.ca/Tips&Tricks/Samba/Oplocks.htm
We've tried with different schemas:
Filesystems: ext3, reiserfs, xfs, vfat with and without LVM2
and tried again, but with the same result: the application run
VERY slow.
Any clues on what could be the problem? and how to solve...

Performance Samba 2.0.6 / FreeBSD 3.4 vs NT and NetWare
I'm getting samba setup, and it seems to be working. I have PDC/BackupPDC
issues to resolve, and want to change things so the NT PDC authenticates
users instead of setting them up using smbpasswd. Right now, I can access
the samba box from Win98 and WinNT workstation with "manually setup"
smbpasswd's.
I have been testing performance and am a little disappointed, I hoped samba

Snow Leopard and Samba
A customer has an expanding number of Mac computers. Last Friday and
existing machine started having problems writing files to a Samba share
on a CentOS 5.x server. They had no problems prior to Friday. They are
getting permission failure errors in creating files and folders. I made
the sare owned by the user and group with group write enabled. Even
with him as the owner he can not write

Samba writing speed with big blocks
Hello !
I'm having serious problems with Samba's writing speed (both 2.0.5a from
RH 6.1 and 2.0.6 compiled from sources) on a 100Mbit network.
If I write a file with block size 65487 or less, then the writing speed is about
7-8 MB/s - a very nice value, my bow to the Samba team :)
If I change the block size to 65488 or more, then the writing speed falls
down to 3 MB/s, which is not what
