Not a User Yet - but have some questions
I've been tasked with fitting out an appartment building with a phone system. The entire appartment is getting broadband, with Cat6 Cables into each appartment and fibre down the trunk. I was hoping to have PSTN in the basement connecting to the IP system. Today I found out however that one of the services will be paid TV - and it will...

Connect intercom to Asterisk?
...lars-thinking-youre-home-invented-schoolboy-Laurence-Rook-13.html When someone rings your intercom, the box will call your cellphone so you can answer just like you were home. I don't know anything about electronics and would like to have something similar by connecting the intercom end in my appartment to a PC running Asterisk that will dial a phone number through SIP. Does someone know if something like that is available ready to use (Arduino, etc.)? Thank you.

Nortel ATA not passing dtmf tones to fxo
I am trying to integrate a Nortel Norstar system with an Asterisk service using a TDM04B card (4 fxo). So far everyting works from Asterisk to Nortel. The problem is when someone dials from the Nortel PBX to the Asterisk server. Asterisk answers the call and provides a dialtone (with DISA) but appartently the DTMF tones are not passed to asterisk and the call cannot proceed. This only happens when calling from a digital phone on the Nortel. If I connect an analog phone to the PBX and dial from there the call can go through. Anyone has experience with this? -- Carlos Chavez Director de T...

Creating regularly spaced time series from irregular one
...rvation. I guess the idea would be to start from the begining of my series and, for example, if there is no timestamp for t+5min add that time with value NA. Than I could use locf() function to fill those NAs. Finaly I should extract from that series, series with 5min spaced timestamps with prices. Appart from applying locf() function, I have no idea how to add NAs into original series or extract the regular series after. Can someone help me with this? Thank you. crypting remote data
I don't know if this is the propper place to ask for new funcionality, but after searching the website i didn't find another place to do it. I'm very sorry if I`m asking this in the wrong place. It would be greatful to have crypting funcionality added to rsync, appart from using ssh to crypt transmissions. I know this is not the original purpose for rsync, but anyway it's a fact that many people need (at least i need, I hope I'm not alone) additional security features for offsite backups, like having the data crypted at remote, but not at source, so the...

mkinitrd-4.2.1.3-1 unsuitable for 2.6.13+ kernels?
...to the mpt-driver options between 2.6.12 and 2.6.13, and that part of the menuconfig-screens does indeed look different. So - are there any plans for an mkinitrd upgrade, either from CentOS or RH? Alternatively, is there a workaround for this problem? I have not spent much time picking initrds appart yet, but I will be happy to assist in testing. Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic) packages now available
Hello Dovecot-List, so Ubuntu users now can get the latest dovecot version. As I am just building a production mailserver for customers, this could come in handy, maybe. For a live production system, is it reasonable to switch from the main Ubuntu Dovecot release to your newer packages? How long will the Dovecot team build these packages? When the team don't want to build these packages

offline root lvm resize
So here goes... First some back story -Centos 5 with latest updates as of yesterday. kernel is 2.6.18-238.19.1.el5 -setup is raid 1 for /boot and lvm over raid6 for everything else - The / partition (lvm "RootVol") had run out of room... (100% full, things where falling appart...) I resized the root volume (from 20GiB to 50GiB). This was done from a fedora 15 livecd, seemed like a better idea than doing it on a live system at the time.... After the resize the content of all the lvs could be mounted and all data was still there (all this from within fedora). The problem...

Sound card problem in acoustic echo
...driver? Why "it was of no practical use"? > I worked some time for a company doing AEC using Speex on Windows. It is true it depends a lot on sound card models. I remember I could do AEC by resampling frequencies so play and record frequencies where equal.Frequencies where aprox 100Hz appart. Also, I know that on other cases AEC was achieved by disabling FX DirectSound effects where it wasn`t possible before that.Try to disable all you don't need before calling Speex AEC function. > Also, I tried the ASIO driver,as an experiment. I think it worked, but it was of no practical use....

High Number of VMs
Hi, I''m curious about how you guys deal with big virtualization installations. To this date we only dealt with a small number of VM''s (~10)on not too big hardware (2xquad xeons+16GB ram). As I''m the "storage guy" I find it quite convenient to present to the dom0s one LUN per VM that makes live migration possible but without the cluster file system or cLVM
