...) The spec.py file seems to say that aspect ratio "is not used yet". I'm a bit confused, and I'm trying to add proper aspect ratio support to GStreamer at the moment. What should I be doing ? patches for theora
...hes against current svn for theora; one for general autotools stuff, and one for -uninstalled.pc Ralph, I think I submitted at least part of the first already once before, was there something wrong with it or was it just an oversight ? Let me know if they need fixing. Patches are at http://thomas.apestaart.org/download/patches/theora/ together with explanations. I think it'd be nice if the first autotool patch makes the beta1 release; esp. the includedir bug is embarassing. The second one I believe was discussed before; personally I feel it is useful to have -uninstalled.pc files for "unst...

libreadanything ?
Is there a library that decodes any file format ? I need a lib to decode ogg-vorbis (of course) and also wavs, mp3s, flac... Using several different libs is not a good solution. I don't like to use a lot of different APIs to do the same thing with different file formats. -- Giuliano.

Theora file extension
Theora and Vorbis both uses same extension .ogg. I know ogg is a container, just like avi. But in my opinion video and audio files should have different extensions (using .ogv can be a nice idea). To a media player it doesn't matter what extension a file uses, but to a human who does a ls in a directory full of media files having different extensions will help a lot. I know one can use file

Jumpy Video
Hi! I tried two theora experiments lately... One encoding a Quicktime MOV file using ffmpeg2theora and one using Thoggen. Both times I had a very jumpy result... The thoggen-encoded DVD would 'jump' every half second or so, as if there was a slight, perhaps 20ms pause. Audio would remain synced though. The quicktime file would jump even more, being reduced to looking like a crisp 2fps
