Runaway apcsmart process
On several occasions I have seen the apcsmart process runaway using 100% CPU while filling my syslog partition by logging the following syslog entries at an incredible rate. I have seen up to 21,800 log entries PER SECOND of the following nature: --[snip]-- Jun 25 10:06:38 servername apcsmart[4012]: Communications with UPS lost: Communicatio...

[RFC apcsmart V3 00/18] apcsmart driver updates
Sorry for a bit longer delay than I anticipated, I was stuffed with the work. This is the next iteration of the patch adding some functionality to apcsmart driver, and relying on 'ignorelb' recently added. Follow up from previous thread: http://www.mail-archive.com/nut-upsdev at lists.alioth.debian.org/msg02331.html Main differences is that V3 is split into many small patches, so the reviewing changes should be much easier. There're al...

Proposed apcsmart driver patch
G'day y'all, Here's a tiny patch set for drivers/apcsmart.c and drivers/apcsmart.h. Adds APC SmartUPS 1250 ("8QD" case) + 940-0024C recognition to apcsmart. (Unpatched apcsmart.c v1.99.8 misidentifies the SmartUPS 1250 as a "dumb" UPS.) For NUT 2.0.5+. NUT 2.0.5: Patches apply successfully. Builds successfully. Works as expected u...

apcsmart question
...own methods, to make them easily callable through e.g. upscmd (for example for testing). Is it acceptable to add certain commands specific only to some driver and documented in its manual page (but otherwise meaningless for the rest of the drivers) ? Say with (in this case) a driver prefix, e.g.: apcsmart.shutdown.grace (@nnn) apcsmart.shutdown.grace.h (@nn) apcsmart.shutdown.cs (force OB (U), then shutdown.return (S) - aka 'CS hack') apcsmart.firmware.old (V) If not - how should I approach this ?

Battery runtime not displaying
Hello, I just upgraded to Network UPS Tools upsstats 2.6.4 on Debian wheezy and noticed that it does not show the battery runtime anymore, the field is simply empty. It used to work before with NUT 2.4.1. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I am using the apcsmart UPS driver. Thanks, M.L.

The apcsmart driver was overhauled, and in 2.6.x, the previous one is available as apcsmart-old: just change the driver name in ups.conf, and restart upsd and the driver. We would eventually like to have the new apcsmart driver replace the old one completely, so could you please capt...

[RFC/PREVIEW] Move apcsmart driver to canonical processing + minor stuff
Inital tests with two apc units (2005 and pre-2000) seem to go well. See commit message for details. I'll add more detailed rationale after getting some sleep :) Michal Soltys (1): apcsmart: switch processing to ICANON + minor fixes drivers/apcsmart.c | 270 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++----------------- drivers/apcsmart.h | 127 ++++++++++++++++--------- 2 files changed, 267 insertions(+), 130 deletions(-) -- 1.7.2.1

Thanks for the help, with the apcsmart-old driver it works again! Didn't notice my UPS is now so "old" ;-) Here is the output of upsc with apcsmart-old driver: battery.alarm.threshold: 0 battery.charge: 100.0 battery.charge.restart: 00 battery.date: 11/22/06 battery.packs: 001 battery.packs.bad: 000 battery.runtime: 540...

apcsmart dev branch
...feedback would be most welcome. Apparently, a lot of people are using NUT via packages, so: * users might not want to build from source if things are working * the packagers might not pick up a 2.7.x dev version, or it might be a while before it gets much use * users can always fall back on apcsmart-old Not much we can do about the first two points, but if you want, we can put a big warning in the apcsmart-old banner that it will eventually go away, and they should report any bugs encountered with the new apcsmart driver. IMHO, we have to balance the hassle of users upgrading against the bur...

APC Backups-Pro 650 - Any way to use apcsmart?
...to move my APC BP650 from apcupsd to nut so that all 3 servers would be monitored on the same web interface. The APC is attached to an older box running openSuSE 11.0 with nut-2.2.2-66.1. (nut-classic). The APC BP650 uses a serial connection through the 940-0095A and with apcupsd it uses the 'apcsmart' driver quite happily. However, with nut, I can only get it to work with the genericups upstype=1 driver, but not the apcsmart driver. Here is my ups.conf configs that I have tried: with genericups (working): [nemesis_ups] driver = genericups upstype = 1 port = /dev/...

apcsmart dev branch
Hi, The devel branch has some long standing updates implemented - mostly a result from past bug/issue reports. Among those: - selectable normal / canonical mode (useful in windows and perhaps with some problematic usb/rs cards) - some compat entries - certain (old) class of psus returning something else through 'b' treated as a whole set - can handle mutlivalue entries (e.g.

apcsmart and dual environmental sensors
Hi, We have a several AP9612TH environmental cards (they have 2 probe connectors) inserted into our APC UPS devices which monitor temperature and humidity. The apcsmart nut module knows how to query the ambient.temperature and ambient.humidity using the 't' and 'h' commands of the UPS (refer to apcsmart.h). The results of the 't' and 'h' commands are from probe 1. If you submit via the serial port the commands 'T' and '...
