Understanding NT Groups and UNIX Permissions with Samba Shares
Hello, I am having some problems understanding a few concepts in Samba while trying to use samba-common-3.0.0-14.3E, samba-client-3.0.0-14.3E and samba-3.0.0-14.3E on RHE 3.0. Basically, I have security = domain. My system is running winbind, I've added the winbind calls to nsswitch.conf. I can get my wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g commands to show me what I want. That all seems happy. I have a

Unable to see linux filesystem with samba running
Hi I am new to Linux. I am using Redhat 9.0. I have installed the Samba software, configured the smb.conf, added my client Windows XP box into the hosts.allow, hosts.equiv etc and started the smb service. Still I am unable to map the Linux share on to my Windows XP box. I have tried enabling and disabling the XP firewall also. I can see the Linux machine name in the Windows explorer "My

What would the ideal server setup be?
I have one dedicated server for all my various projects (both PHP as well as Rails) and will be getting a second server to run only the Rails apps on. What is the ideal server setup in terms of RAM vs. Processor Speed (more RAM or more processor speed?) and should I use Apace, lighttpd, mongrel, or what? I''ve got the money to afford something pretty solid...just don''t know exactly what would be best. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

i''m running the following script: #pragma D option quiet profile:::tick-1sec / ++x >= 15 / { exit(0); } io:::start { @io_size[execname] = sum(args[0]->b_bcount); } on exit, the script prints out the value of @io_size, why? there''s no printa(), and i also specified "D option quiet" (i also tried -q). this seems to happen with any kind of probe: on exit(0) all

complete newbie
Hi everyone, I am a complete newbie to rsync. Last year I built and setup my own web server based on an old Intel PII box running at 333Mhz. There is plenty of RAM and HD space, but the site is now growing apace. A few weeks ago while upgrading my office equipment I set aside another box running an AMD Athlon at 1.1GHz. Still plenty of RAM and drive space. Both systems are setup us as servers running Fedora Core 3. I am happy with their performance but need to know how I can mirror the first server onto...

Speex compile/rpmbuild issue on x86_64
Not sure if it is just my configuration but building the RPM on Centos x86_64 fails. Also not sure if this is to be fixed in the Makefile or in the configure. The rpm compile proceeds apace until the build reaches the %files section. Here it uses the _libdir directive to look for the libraries that have just been compiled. However in an x86_64 environment the _libdir directive points to lib64 (at least on centos/Redhat and probably Fedora Core). The compile on this platform builds the...

Where can I find the slirp-helper?
For the libvirt 5.8 release, I find that there is a new comment in qemu.conf: #slirp_helper = "/usr/bin/slirp-helper" It indicates that there is a slirp-helper to help setup slirp network. But I cannot find it even after I built the latest qemu(v4.1.0-1378-g98b2e3c9ab) and libvirt (v5.9.0-rc1-2-g73f91d659b). Could you please tell me where I can find that helper program? Thanks --
