Old (really old) programs under CentOS.
Ok, I have a small dilemma, and I'm hoping someone here has had to do this before. I have at a site (not PARI) a server running some mission critical software that was written in 1997 for libc5, under AOLserver 2.3.? No, source code is not available for that version of AOLserver (it wasn't open-sourced until version 3.0, and the API changed rather dramatically at that point), not that it would help any, as gcc has undergone so many changes since RH5 that a recompile would be very difficult.? The sof...

R for CGI
Dear R Users; Perl is the common language to write CGI scripts which handle Forms. My question is that can R be as fast as perl to do the same job(with using CGIwithR package). Is it an optimal solution to connect R directly to a commercial HTML webpages, Sincerely, Sean

Configuration for binding to "secure" ports?
...t this time. So, I am currently stuck at 2.0.x, which has no such ''capabilities'' (bad pun). The general idea is to allow a configuration file (or set of parameters, or use an external portadmin program) to allow certain users to listen on secure ports: ie, ''portadmin 80 aolserver'' would issue a command to the kernel to allow user aolserver to run a daemon listening on port 80, if no program already had port 80. Or, even better, ''portadmin 80 aolserver /usr/local/AOLserver/bin/nsd'', further restricting that port to a particular executable. Anot...

Launching a standalone Rails app
Hi, I''ve developed a standalone Rails app - using tar2rubyscript and rubyscript2exe. The users aren''t going to understand that the''ll need to open the browser and go to 127.0.0.1:3000 to view the app, after running the exe. I am wondering whether other people have tackled this problem in the past, and how they went about solving it. One way would be to write a

Concerned about Dovecot's new NTLM code (Modified by Timo Sirainen)
...ution anyway.. Oh, and after v1.0 I'll probably start fixing the mailbox APIs too. lib-index and lib-storage needs to have different kind of relationship. > It would be marvelous if at some point being able to replace c-client > library to your optimized one for PHP, mailsync, postman, aolserver and > others - even if it means loosing support for odd mailbox formats. I'm not sure what kind of API PHP provides for c-client. I know it's commonly used for building IMAP webmails, but Dovecot doesn't have any IMAP client code and maybe never will. -------------- next part --...

Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a smaller system). The types of things being served would include: - Logo image for sets that support that - XML directory files - XML or raw text configuration files -

Syntax Problem
I admit I am stuck. I am converting a legacy php site to ROR. The old site uses MD5, a security flaw waiting to happen. I upgraded to AAA and am adding code in the session_controller.rb file to see if crypted_password is blank. If it is, crypt and check the password against the old md5 version and write it in the new crypted_password field. Here is my code add on before the logged_in?: def
