AOE (Ata over ethernet) troubles on xen 2.0.6
...on xen3).
Specifically I can''t see nor export AOE devices. As a quick background
on AOE, it is not IP (not routable, etc), but works with broadcasts and
packets to MAC addresses (see http://www.coraid.com).
(for anyone who wants to test or play)
In my dom0 (w/ aoe module), I installed aoetools and vblade (
http://aoetools.sourceforge.net ). aoetools are not necessary, but
nice. vblade lets you export a block device to the network.
I exported an lvm device (worked fine on non xen machine) with:
vblade 2 0 eth0 (2 is shelf number and 0 is slot number -- can be anything).

Xen/AoE skb frag array incompatibility
...lem? It is not clear to me if it is a
problem with Xen or if the fault lies in AoE. I have looked into it a
bit but my kernel hacking talents are rather meager. Attached is a
recent email from the AoE list discussing it. If you have any
suggestions for the AoE folks they can be reached over at

[Bridge] aoe/vblade on "localhost"
...nbd) - but without tcp/ip.
AoE kernel driver is the "client end" (see this like an iSCSI initiator) - and an etherblade storage appliance is the "server end" (see this like an iSCSI target)
there is a software equivalent to etherblade storage which is called vblade (part of the aoetools project) - or vblade-kernel (another implementation, but done as a kernel module)
a very nice article about what AoE is can be found at http://www.linuxjournal.com/comment/reply/8149
what i want to do is nicely described in this bugreport by some other person:

Aoe or iScsi???
Hi people...
Here we use Xen 4 with Debian Lenny... We''re using kernel 2.6.31.13
pvops...
As a storage system, we use AoE devices...
So, we installed VM''s on AoE partition... The "NAS" server is a Intel
based baremetal with SATA hard disc...
However, sometime I feeling that VM''s is so slow...
Also, all VM has GPLPV drivers installed...
So, I am thing about

live migration breaking...aoe issue?
I am trying to get a proof-of-concept type setup going...I have a
storage box and 2 xen servers...I am using file based disk that live
on the aoe device...i can run the vm from either host without
issue...when I run the live migration, the domain leaves the xm list
on host 1 and shows up on host 2 (however there is a pause for pings
of about 2 minutes?)...after it is on host 2, I can xm console
