GSoc Project Idea Weighting Schemes (Ranking)
...models, Unigram Language Model
and the Bi-gram Language Model implemented two years ago in GSoc 2012 yet
not merged to the master.
The new weighing schemes or improvement in implementing the previous models
to change the default scheme of BM25 from SMART with reference to this
paper www.aclweb.org/anthology/P10-1141
After skimming through the schemes implemented in Xapian::weight. There
seems a considerable hope in editing the algorithms to increase efficiency
and speed and implementing new ones in use.
I would need mentors point of view regarding new schemes for the project
wrt SMART and others.

Joystick axis swap order
Hi. Using Wine I found myself in a weird situation. 4-axis flightsticks have different axis order in Windows and Linux. It appears that the throttle is named axis 3 in Windows, while yaw is the one that Linux names as axis 3, giving throttle axis 4 order. So, games like Fighters Anthology that have fixed joystick use can't operate well, while games like Simcopter that support assignment work around this problem. But I need a way to fix this through Wine, so that all games can work. Is there an option to swap the axes 3 and 4?
Thanks :)

Supermicro SAS/SATA controllers?
The standard controller that has been recommended in the past is the
AOC-SAT2-MV8 - an 8 port with a marvel chipset. There have been several
mentions of LSI based controllers on the mailing lists and I''m wondering
about them.
One obvious difference is that the Marvel contoller is PCI-X and the LSI
controllers are PCI-E.
Supermicro have several LSI controllers. AOC-USASLP-L8i with the

Red Hat CEO: Go Ahead, Copy Our Software

Title says is all. Nice to know RH understands and accepts the
relationship between CentOS and RHEL.
Although it is complex. After all, if too many choose CentOS, there
may no longer be a CentOS. However, I don't think I would refer to
CentOS as a "parasite" as the author Matt Asay does. More appropriate

Newbie - Adding a Samba system to a XP workgroup
Being a newbie to UNIX, I have read everything I can find on configuring
SAMBA but everywhere I look it states that the SAMA machine MUST be a PDC in
a local domain. At this time I have a small XP workgroup which does not
require passwords or excessive security. I would prefer to keep the
workgroup because my wife uses one of the XP computers and would complain
long and loud if now she needed to
