[LLVMdev] MS VS2008 build fails - X86AsmParser
Hi all, Just tried to build from svn sources with Visual Studio 2008, mostly OK but fails building the X86AsmParser lib - I see a few commits from yesterday that may have something to do with it, but no idea what the solution is. -David See MSVC's beautiful and concise output below; Compiling... Hi, I am facing a very weird problem with parallel::mclapply. I have a script which does some data wrangling on an input dataset in parallel and then writes the results to disk. I have been using this script daily for more than one year always on an EC2 instance launched from the same AMI (no updates installed after launch) and processed thousands of different input data sets successfully. I now

Wow, that's a pretty terrible diagnostic. Does r113198 help? -Chris

OT Proftpd stopped authenication for users
For some reason proftpd stopped authentication for users. Anonymous access still works but when someone tries to access the server via their login it no longer authenticates them. I recently ran yum where proftpd was updated (that said, I'm not sure that caused the problem). I uninstalled the new version and and installed a prior version with no change. Below is a look at my config, a

error in parallel:::sendMaster
Hi again, One important correction of my first message: I misinterpreted the output. Actually in that R session 2 input files were processed one after the other in a loop. The first (with 88 parts went fine). The second (with 85 parts) produced the sendMaster errors and failed. If (in a new session via Rscript) I only process the second input file it will work. The other observations on R vs

Hi Andreas, the error is reported when some child process cannot send results to the master process, which originates from an error returned by write() - when write() returns -1 or 0. The logic around the writing has not changed since R 3.5.2. It should not be related to the printing in the child, only to returning the value. The problem may be originating from the execution environment,

GridR error
Hi, I am trying to use 'GridR' package for the first time, and I'm running into a strange error from grid.check: > grid.check(gridFun) Error in exists(add) : invalid first argument After playing around in recover mode, I see that this because the variable 'add' created by grid.check is blank: Browse[1]> split[[1]][k] [1] " : " Browse[1]> add [1]

Hi Tomas, Thanks for your prompt reply and your offer to help. I might need to get back to this since I am not too experienced in debugging these kinds of issues. Anyway, I gave it a try and I think I have found the immediate cause: I installed the debug symbols (r-base-core-dbg), placed https://github.com/wch/r-source/blob/tags/R-3-5-2/src/library/parallel/src/fork.c in cwd and changed the

Hi Andreas, thank you very much, good job finding it was EBADF. Now the question is why the pipe has been closed prematurely; it could be accidentally by R (a race condition in the cleanup code in fork.c) or possibly by some other code running in the same process (maybe the R program itself or some other code it runs). Maybe we can take this off the list and come back when we know the cause

[LLVMdev] Unable to build latest with Visual Studio 2008
Hello, I've been building Clang under Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008 for a while now, but had not touched it in a few months. Last night I wiped my build tree to do a full rebuild with the latest version, and got the identical error as David Shipman was seeing last September. Are others able to build under VS9 right now? Thanks, John > Subject: Re: [LLVMdev] MS VS2008 build fails -

NULL sessions - Listing shares anonymously - restrict anonymous
Hi, I am running 2.2.5 and I would like to know if the "restrict anonymous" as been implemented correctly, as it was supposed to behave from the start, in order to deny ALL anonymous connections as stated in the man : "When restrict anonymous is yes, all anonymous connections are denied no matter what they are for." Ive been reading some dev mailing lists and someone said

Hi all, With the help of Tomas, I was able to track the issue down: Prior to R v3.6.0 the parallel package passes an uninitialized variable as the file descriptor argument to the close system call. In my particular R session this uninitialized variable (reproducibly) was holding the value 7, which corresponded to the file descriptor of the write end of the pipe the second child would use to

Looks like a bug in the DebugIR pass. I imagine that without the -debug–ir flag, you will be able to get a little further. Nonetheless, can you send me the "bitcodetestqtapp" that you're running, or steps to reproduce? I'd love to take a look. Outlook anonymous IMAP login
Hello guys, I'm trying to setup anonymous IMAP login on a bunch of Outlook clients, but it doesn't seems to work. I'm using dovecot-0.99.14-r1, on a Gentoo Linux OS. Using command line anonymous login, it's working just fine: youri / # telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. * OK dovecot ready. . CAPABILITY *
