avoid using Dingbats symbols for points()
Hi,
I came across with a tiny problem.
E.g.:
pdf()
plot(1:5)
points(2, 3, cex=10, pch=21, bg="grey", lwd=0.3)
points(2, 4, cex=1, pch=21, bg="grey", lwd=0.3)
dev.off()
If I execute this I'll get a nice PDF. Fine.
But I want to edit this PDF with let's say by using Adobe Illustrator.
If I try to open it Illustrator shows up an error message:

R CMD check: Uses the superseded package: ‘doSNOW’
Oh, I completely missed that one.
It's very neat as it seems to work both on Windows and Unix.
Thanks!

R CMD check: Uses the superseded package: ‘doSNOW’
Dear list,
When I run an R CMD check --as-cran on my package (pROC) I get the
following note:
> Uses the superseded package: ?doSNOW?
The fact that it uses the doSNOW package is correct as I have the
following example in an .Rd file:

How to deal with functions detected as apparent S3 methods
Dear list,
I am trying to clear the following note that is generated by an R CMD
check --as-cran on my package (pROC):

Cisco 7905 can't register
My Cisco 7905 can't register with Asterisk (1.0.7-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC7k
on Debian stable). It could, however, register with another
installation of Asterisk and the settings on the phone (apart from the
SIP proxy address) haven't changed since then.
On the new Asterisk box my sip.conf contains this:

type=friend
regexten=801
allow=g729
host=dynamic
secret=PASSWORD
nat=yes

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were
just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not
enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation
again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and
all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is
someone else complaining
